Call me a fool if you like, but I BELIEVE!

by Michael G. Mickey

Here at RaptureAlert.com, I talk a lot about what I believe is visible proof in the news of our world today that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is coming again, perhaps in the not-too-distant future, to call His Bride - the Church - to His side! Thus, the site's name: Rapture Alert! But what about the evidence in the world around us that demonstrates our God is still performing miracles for all of us to see, even in this modern, wicked world where the hearts of so many have grown too cold and indifferent to sense His presence?

To the glory of God our Father, MSNBC is reporting a 12-year-old Ethiopian girl who was abducted and beaten by seven men, one of whom was trying to force her into marriage, was found by police a week after being kidnapped --- being guarded by three lions! Reportedly, the girl was "rescued" by the lions who chased her captors away then stood guard over her "for about half a day" until police arrived on the scene to care for her.

The article quotes a police officer named Wondimu Wedajo as saying the following, "They stood guard until we found her and then they just left her like a gift and went back into the forest. If the lions had not come to her rescue, then it could have been much worse. Often these young girls are raped and severely beaten to force them to accept the marriage.”

A local government official according to the article, corroborated Wondimu’s statements made, another of which was: "Everyone thinks this is some kind of miracle, because normally the lions would attack people."

A miracle? Indeed, although a wildlife expert quoted in the article suggested a young girl whimpering could be mistaken for the mewing sound of a lion cub, possibly explaining why the lions didn’t eat her. While this logic may stick with those skeptical of the power of God, it doesn't with me. Why? Because, if those lions thought the beaten and crying girl was a lion cub they felt they needed to defend, why would they stand guard over her half a day then just wander off into the woods? Are we to believe the "mothering" instincts of these great and powerful beasts just shut off when the police arrived? Were the three lions filled with fear upon seeing the police approaching? Praise the Lord, I think not!

Proverbs 30:30: A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;

Call me a fool if you like, skeptics of the God of the Bible, but I BELIEVE in:

  • The God who translated Enoch that he should not see death!
  • The God who spared Noah from the Great Flood!
  • The God who promised Abraham he would be the father of many nations - and made it so!
  • The God who led Moses and the children of Israel out of Egypt, destroying Pharoah's armies in the process!
  • The God who led Samson to many victories in battle against overwhelming odds!
  • The God who led Joshua and the children of Israel and flattened the walls of Jericho!
  • The God who was in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego --- and delivered them!
  • The God who was with the prophet Daniel in the lion's den!
  • The God who used three lions to save a little girl in Ethiopia that we might praise Him for His wondrous works!

Praise God for providing me the opportunity to publish this story with the voice of thanksgiving, telling all who will read it of His wondrous works in performing this miracle in Ethiopia for us to see - a reminder that He is alive, on the throne, and in control!

Psalms 86:10: For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.
