The BBC is reporting there will be as many as 50 million "environmental refugees"
in the world in five years' time - people left homeless by natural disasters.
The article states the following, in part:
The projected figure of 50 million is derived from a number of previous
reports, including the 1999 World Disasters Report from the International
Red Cross.
This calculated that natural disasters in the previous year had created
more refugees than wars or other armed conflicts.
As the article states, refugees, in a historical sense, were considered to
be such only when they left their homeland for another country, but not anymore!
The environment of the world we're living in is presently so chaotic that
people are having to flee their homes in an attempt to survive, complicating
matters in the areas they are forced to relocate to.
We're living on a planet
under pressure - one in such desperate need only the return of the Savior
will insure the survival of flesh upon it! What we're seeing now, in ever-growing
frequency and intensity, is proof positive that Christ's return is precisely
what is going to be needed to restore the fallen world we're living in - and
soon!
Matthew 24:6-8: And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that
ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end
is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers
places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Matthew 24:21-22: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not
since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved:
but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
The condition of the world around us is proof positive that Christ's return
can not possibly be far away! Although none of us know precisely when that
will be, what we're seeing take place environmentally in our world is evidence
that all flesh is beginning to be literally threatened with extinction! It's
a sign we'd do well to heed concerning the lateness of the hour we're living
in as it relates to Christ's return.
In 2003, according to a BBC
report, the World Conservation Union's Red List said more than 12,000 species
(out of 40,000 assessed) faced some extinction risk, including:
- onebird in eight
- 13% of the world's flowering plants
- a quarter of all mammals
Five short years from now 50 million people may be homeless due to natural
disasters! Who knows, other than Almighty God, how many species named as risked
for extinction will have been wiped out by then, complicating matters even more
environmentally!
Recently, as seen in a Yahoo
News story, televangelist Pat Robertson (a post-trib Rapture believer, in
case you didn't know) stated the "recent spate of natural disasters affecting
the globe "might be" signs that the Biblical apocalypse is near."
In response to Robertson's statements, the same scientific community which
continues to warn us of all the above, as seen in the story, says it's not likely
the end is drawing near. And we wonder why, in spite of all the evidence around
us, so many are going to be caught offguard when Christ Raptures His Church
and the world finds itself in the most horrific period of time in recorded history!
Sometimes I wonder what it would take to convince people how close we are to
the end! Honestly!
The threat of 50 million "environmental refugees" existing within
the next five years doesn't convince mankind Jesus is coming soon! Tsunamis
that kill hundreds of thousands of people don't convince mankind Jesus is coming
soon either! Neither do massive earthquakes that kill tens of thousands nor
the fact 2005 is going to be, in all likelihood, the most violent sea storm
season on record ever! With over a month to go left in hurricane season, there's
only one more name left to be handed out for sea storms - Wilma. After that,
they're going to begin using the letters of the Greek Alphabet. That hasn't
happened in more than fifty years of storms being regularly named!
Luke 21:35: For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face
of the whole earth.
It isn't hard to see why, is it?
