There is no doubt it will seem as though the gates of hell have opened
up if warfare erupts between Syria and the United States, particularly
from the perspective of anyone involved in the fighting. Even so, does
Damascus, capital city of the world's #2 state sponsor of international
terrorism behind nuclear weapon-seeking Iran, seriously think it can match
the firepower of the United States of America? Surely not!
Week after week and month after month we've read reports of terrorist
operatives crossing into Iraq from Syria to kill U.S. soldiers engaged
in operations there. Naturally, the United States, having already engaged
these terrorists in several operations just inside the Iraqi border, realizes
where these killers are originating from and is, understandably, growing
tired of it.
Warning after warning to Syria has apparently gone unheeded and now we
see, for the first time I'm personally aware of, information in the news
suggesting the United States has seriously given thought to striking these
forces inside Syria.
As I've stated in the past, Syria not only supports terrorism, but also
has a significant stockpile of chemical weapons in its arsenal. It may
also have biological weapons as well. And missiles? Syria has plenty of
those to fire them with!
While I genuinely pray nothing horrific is going to take place in the
Middle East involving Syria, for the sake of all the innocent lives that
may be destroyed as a result, I can't help but feel certain something
is going to. Why? Isaiah 17:1.
The prophet Isaiah, as seen in Isaiah 17:1, predicted a day would come
when Damascus, the longest continuously-inhabited city on the planet according
to many, would be taken from being a city and be left a ruinous heap.
Although some suggest this prophecy was fulfilled in times past, I have
never found anything that has led me to believe the precise conditions
described by Isaiah have ever existed there, leaving me to wonder if this
prophecy is to be fulfilled in its entirety in the future.
Are the gates of hell going to open, as Syria suggests, if the United
States attacks? Time will tell, but it seems the United States' patience
in dealing with Damascus is wearing thin.
If the United States is forced to attack terror factions inside Syria,
could we see a nightmare scenario quickly evolve as a result, with Syria,
perhaps, firing weapons of mass destruction at either the United States
or Israel?
One would think the Assad regime would know better than to do so, but then
there's Isaiah 17:1 to consider.
