Hostile to Science?
by Michael G. Mickey
(10-30-05)
In every battle, there are attacks and counterattacks. Most
people, other than those who hold a strict biblical worldview, fail to see
the battle between good and evil taking place in the world around them for
possession of their eternal souls. Sure, they occasionally pick up on something
that raises an eyebrow, but most items of interest slip by unnoticed.
In today's commentary, I want to address a Reuters
news story I found on the Yahoo News website which begs the following
question: Is the US becoming hostile to science?
First of all, let's ask ourselves why we'd see a story like
this making the news of our world today when the United States, both judicially
and legislatively, has been, for a very, very long time now, hostile
toward Almighty God, ruling time after time that God has no place in our
schools, government buildings, etc.
Isn't it interesting that we don't see news stories begging
the question of why the God of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things,
is no longer welcome in the places this nation needs Him most? Isn't it
interesting the news sources of our world today aren't wondering where America's
traditional moral values have gone, why the next generation of Americans'
minds are being shaped to believe they're nothing other than evolved wildlife,
and laws that govern our nation's morality are being decided which threaten
to destroy God's institution of marriage and the composition of the traditional
American family, which, of course, has everything to do with how
the God America has become hostile to will be received in times to come? Now there are some interesting stories!
Having given you some things to think on, let's move back
to the original question. Why is the possibility America is becoming hostile
toward science so newsworthy right now in comparison to America tossing
God aside like a worn-out shoe? Because what we're presently seeing, believe
it or not, is a satanic counterattack to the current argument going on between
those strictly holding onto Darwin's lie of evolution and a new generation
of scientists who believe our children should be taught that there may be
another explanation for our existence, one they themselves believe there
is evidence of - intelligent design!
While I believe in intelligent design, of course, I want to
warn those who hope to see those presently fighting in favor of the theory
of intelligent design being presented to our children in school as an alternative
to evolution, how important it is for us to understand that the teaching
of intelligent design would not bring the Genesis account of Creation back
into public schools, but would suggest some power of greater intelligence,
who would assuredly have to remain anonymous, is responsible for our existence.
This, in case you've never considered it, opens all kinds of possibilities,
some of which may be even more dangerous to the young minds of our children
than Darwin's theory of evolution, if that's possible to imagine. They could
be subtly led, for example, to believe an advanced race of alien beings
seeded life here on earth long ago and that these powerful beings in UFOs
(demon manifestations, in my humble opinion) are still somehow overseeing
us from above, appearing here and there as we all hear they do occasionally.
That's scary stuff, isn't it? What this demonstrates to us is, even if intelligent
design proponents should win this present debate, Christians should be monitoring
developments closely to see what becomes of the movement before jumping
on its bandwagon. While intelligent design may present opportunities for
our children to learn that a creation of some type may have taken place,
it will be up to the Church to make a strong statement as to the identity
of that Creator because we know He will never be spoken of by name unless
we do it! The god of this world, Satan, will see to that!
John 8:44 tells us of the character of Satan, the prince of
the power of the air:
- Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because
there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own:
for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Not only is Satan a liar, he is a masterful manipulator of
our thoughts. As I often tell people, anyone who enters into a dialogue
of any length with Satan on the morality of any issue of conscience will
ultimately lose to him! Thus the importance of resisting the devil immediately upon the arrival of so much as a thought that is contrary to Scriptural
teaching! Period. Resist the devil and he will flee, we are told
in James 4:7! Talking with him, reasoning that it may be okay to break the
rules just this once, etc., is a no-win situation.
When America started a debate with darkness concerning what
role God played in our Creation and what role He should have in our schools,
America ultimately placed all its eggs in Darwin's basket. Subsequently,
God was flushed out of America's schools.
Now, as a direct result of mistakes America has made in its
past, the mere mention of something that may even hint at God's Creation
being a possibility finding its way back into the consciousness of America's
children through our school systems has Satan and all his minions in a tizzy!
They have turned their demonic propaganda wide open as a result, suggesting
through their deceived human operatives, many of whom act on Satan's behalf
without any conscious knowledge of it, that those supportive of intelligent
design have a hostility toward science! How utterly absurd, especially when
many of intelligent design's proponents are scientists!
Providing some background on how this heated debate got to
be so, the Reuters article states the following, in part (emphasis added
mine):
The school board of Dover, Pennsylvania, is being sued by
parents backed by the American Civil Liberties Union after it ordered
schools to read students a short statement in biology classes informing
them that the theory of evolution is not established fact and that gaps
exist in it.
The statement mentioned intelligent design as an alternative
theory and recommended students to read a book that explained the theory
further.
Brown University biologist Kenneth Miller believes the rhetoric
of the anti-evolution movement has had the effect of driving a wedge between
a large proportion of the population who follow fundamentalist Christianity
and science.
"It is alienating young people from science. It
basically tells them that the scientific community is not to be trusted
and you would have to abandon your principles of faith to become a scientist,
which is not at all true," he said.
On the other side, conservative scholar Michael Novak of
the American Enterprise Institute, believes the only way to heal the rift
between science and religion is to allow the teaching of intelligent design.
"To have antagonism between science and religion is
crazy," he said at a forum on the issue last week.
Proponents of intelligent design deny they are anti-science
and say they themselves follow the scientific method.
What we're seeing take place in the intelligent design argument
is the same tired tactic the forces of darkness have used repeatedly concerning
the ongoing homosexual rights movement - one they have found to be effective
among all those willing to compromise on the Word of God's literal interpretation.
When Christians state they oppose the practice of homosexuality
in accordance with the Word of God, what do those in favor of those things
accuse Christians of? Hostility toward homosexuals, right? As I strive
to educate people who read my website, Christians who uphold the Word of
God do not hate homosexuals! Why? Because homosexuals are people!
The practice of homosexuality, on the other hand, is a chosen lifestyle
which God has strictly forbidden! That lifestyle the Christian is obligated
by Scripture to peacefully oppose as is the case with many other
lifestyles.
Am I suggesting Christians should turn away from homosexuals,
refusing to be loving and compassionate toward them? Certainly not! Jesus,
while he walked on the earth, was accused of associating with sinners, to
which He replied, as seen in Matthew 9:12, "They that be whole need
not a physician, but they that are sick." Jesus didn't have any phobias
where His association with sinful mankind was concerned and neither should
any Christian in the world today. Jesus Christ was called a friend of
sinners, according to Matthew 11:19 and Luke 7:34. Christians today,
those who are truly His followers, should hope to be found guilty of the
same!
We who support the Bible's definition of how the world was
Created, by the ultimate intelligent designer - Almighty God, need to be
outspoken in saying we are pro-Creation, not hostile to science! What an
absolutely pathetic defense it is for those supportive of Darwin's "theory"
of evolution to use hostility toward science as an argument against intelligent
design proponents, but, as I said earlier, it's quite typical. Science that
is truthful in its findings demonstrates the magnificent, glorious nature
of Almighty God as opposed to anything else. Why would any Christian, therefore,
be hostile toward it?
What we find, when we watch closely for it, is this: Whenever
Christians oppose anything on biblical grounds, they're quickly deemed to
be hostile toward whatever it is that Satan is trying to see furthered
in an attempt to usurp God's authority - something he ultimately hopes will
deny God the glory and honor He deserves! That's why, for example, intelligent
design proponents, many of whom the powers of darkness know are Christians,
are described as mean and hostile!
Those mean
old Christians are trying to move us back to the days of the horse and buggy!
No boats! No lights! No motor cars! Not a single luxury!
Honestly! That's just how silly it is!
The next time you see a news story where conservatives are
allegedly being hostile toward something, particularly if some of those
involved are evangelical Christians, stop and ask yourself what is really going on behind the scenes and whose propaganda is being spread in the process.
You may be surprised how obvious evil's tactics are when you start looking
for them.
Much like Tolerance Lane is a one-way street, Hostility River
only flows one way! If, for example, the Church started marching in the
streets tomorrow saying abortion supporters are hostile toward Christians,
would the news media grab onto that story and run with it? If Christians
started roaring loudly that homosexuals seeking marital rights are being
anti-Christian, would the homosexual activists of the world, with all their
tolerance, feel sorry for us as we're expected to feel sorry for them and
stop pursuing it? If the saints all carried signs claiming the world is
being hostile toward us because we can't say a prayer in Jesus' name at
a local town hall meeting without the ACLU - the Anti-Christian Liberties
Union as I like to call them - suing someone, who would feel compassion
for us and seek to bring about change that would make us more comfortable?
You get the picture.
I would write more on this topic, but I have some science
books I need to go burn.
(Yes, I'm kidding.)
