The assault on Jerusalem begins

by Michael G. Mickey

(11-26-05)

Zechariah 12:2-3: Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

An International Herald Tribune article indicates the European Union is being critical of Israel where East Jerusalem is concerned, stating that the Israelis "are reducing the possibility of reaching a final-status agreement on Jerusalem that any Palestinian could accept." This comes as the EU is presently setting itself up to begin a border monitoring mission in the Holy Land, as seen in an EUBusiness.com article, an event which I believe is setting the stage for the advent of the Antichrist to occur in the prophetic future.

The prophetic scenario foretold in the Bible indicates the Antichrist, a prince (or leader) of Roman descent as seen in Daniel 9:26, is someday going to confirm (or make strong) a covenant of peace seven precise years in length between Israel and her enemies as seen in Daniel 9:27. The Antichrist will eventually, if not from the outset, be a leader within the revived Roman empire, today's European Union.

He will eventually gain some measure of control over the entire world as seen in Revelation 13:7-8, but will do so, as seen in Daniel 8:25, in a most odd fashion - by way of peace! Through peace, we're told in Scripture, he will destroy many!

As we look at the EU's present concerns where East Jerusalem is concerned, we can travel into the future through the prophetic Word of God to see a day coming the world is subliminally being prepared for now - a day when the Gentile forces of the Antichrist will tread the holy city of Jerusalem underfoot for a period of forty-two months as seen in Revelation 11:3.

This treading underfoot of Jerusalem will likely take place during the second half of the Tribulation Period after the Antichrist declares himself to be god, approximately three and one-half years into the seven-year Tribulation Period which will follow the Rapture of the Church.

When the Antichrist mocks Almighty God by calling himself god at that point, he will do it, specifically, at a Holy Temple the Jews will have built at some point prior to then, most likely during the first half of the Tribulation Period when they will perceive it is safe for them to do so.

Ever so subtly, and I'll be documenting it to the best of my ability until the Lord calls the Church out of here, the European Union - the revived Roman empire of Bible prophecy - is going to be posturing itself from this point forward, slowly but surely, to tread Jerusalem underfoot someday! Count on it!

Having now made its way into the Holy Land via the new border monitoring mission it is set to undertake very soon, we can be sure the EU will be doing everything within its power to win the trust of the Jewish people while pressuring the Israeli government to give the Palestinians at least a portion of Jerusalem.

As I write this, as reported by the Kuwait News Agency, the European Union is conducting its first ever military exercises. Having started on November 22nd, they will continue until December 1st. The scenario of the exercise is most interesting, from my perspective. Perhaps you will find it interesting as well, having just reviewed what Bible prophecy tells us is eventually going to take place.

The scenario is this, as seen in KUNA's article linked above (emphasis added mine):

  • "The scenario will depict a situation on a fictitious island (Atlantia), where friction between two ethnic groups over a contested area is leading to the growing danger of instability and spill-over into hostilities," the statement said. Adding that the exercise scenario "will support the need for an autonomous EU-led operation which will require the deployment of military forces.

Two ethnic groups having friction over a contested area like the Temple Mount in Jerusalem perhaps? Such a tense situation could require peacekeeping forces to be deployed someday, huh? Probably just a coincidence, right? Wrong!

Keep looking up ---- and pray for the peace of Jerusalem, a peace that will only come when Jesus Christ personally brings it there!
