Two States for Two Peoples

Kadima, Ariel Sharon's new political party, has decided to campaign on the slogan: "Two states for two peoples."

On March 28, 2006 Israelis will vote in what an article by Jerusalem Newswire's Stan Goodenough is calling "the most fateful in the history of restored Israel." I couldn't possibly agree more with him.

Goodenough writes, "Israel’s nearly six million Jews (and 1.2 million Muslim Arabs) will be casting their ballots on the question of whether or not to irreversibly sever all ties and relinquish all claims to the very heart of their land."

Goodenough's article begs the question why Israelis and Christians should view the upcoming Israeli elections as critical to the Holy Land then goes on to tell us, pointing out precisely why not only Israelis should be up in arms but the Christian world as well:

It is the specific land on which Abraham, Isaac and Jacob established themselves after God gave it exclusively to the descendants in their line (i.e. not to the offspring of Ishmael and Esau), and to all those who embrace their God.
It is the land on which lie buried all of Israel’s national forefathers.
It is the land on which 99 percent of Bible history is played out.
It is the specific land Jews in exile for millennia longed and prayed to return to, and in which endeavor Bible-believing Christians strove to help them.
It is the land to which Jews and Christians believe the Messiah – the Son of David – will come.

A Monsters and Critics article states Ariel Sharon has "made peace talks with the Palestinians his central goal if he wins the March 28 elections and hopes to set Israel's permanent borders." What Ariel Sharon is envisioning doing is precisely what Kadima's campaign slogan says he wants to do; he's envisioning the creation of "two states for two peoples." It is, as the article states, his central goal.

The problem with "two states for two peoples", aside from what Goodenough accurately stated should concern all born-again, Bible-believing Christians, is doing so is going to bring the world closer to the advent of the Antichrist and the onset of the Tribulation Period than it has ever been before, if it doesn't outright lead to starting it. Why do I say that? Because the Arab/Muslim world has no interest whatsoever in peace with the nation of Israel. As if we don't already know that!

Assuming for a moment Ariel Sharon cedes more of Israel's covenant lands to the Palestinians in yet another undeserved gesture of goodwill, the end result is going to be the same as Gaza, which has now become a playground for terrorism. In no time flat Israel has had to create a buffer zone near the border of Gaza to keep its murderous enemies now residing there from killing innocent people, dropping warning leaflets from aircraft stating that those who enter the buffer zone will be subject to the use of lethal force - hardly a reason for Ariel Sharon to believe giving the Palestinians more land is going to be beneficial in bringing about a lasting peace.

Where is all the land-for-peace strategizing by the Sharon government and the Quartet of Russia, the United States, the United Nations and the European Union leading us? Closer to the day when a prince (or leader) of Roman descent, the prophesied Antichrist, will confirm a seven-year covenant of peace in the Middle East between Israel and her enemies. Why do I say that? Because the only way there is going to be "two states for two peoples" living side-by-side in peace in the Holy Land is if someone confirms (or makes strong) a peace plan designed to create an environment condusive to that taking place, in my humble opinion.

The revived Roman empire, the European Union which the Antichrist will someday head, recently began monitoring the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt. Will the EU be presented an opportunity to play a larger role in making Ariel Sharon's "two states for two peoples" plan a reality if he wins the March elections? If so, the Rapture of the Church, which will precede the rise of the Antichrist to global power, may well be right around the prophetic corner!
