Is there an alien in your attic?
by Michael G. Mickey
(2-8-06)
The house you bought from the little spinster? Don't look
now, but she - or someone from the nearby US Air Force Base - may have left
something in the attic for you from 1947 - a baby extraterrestrial in a
jar of pungent liquid. Silly? Not if you believe the content of a Guardian
Unlimited article.
According to the article, Barney Broom bought a two-bedroom
cottage at Gunthorpe, north Norfolk, England 8 months ago. The cottage is
located within 45 miles of two large US Air Force bases --- RAF Lakenheath
and RAF Mildenhall. Many US servicemen and women live and work in the region,
according to the article. (They live and work there because of the Air Force
bases being there, in case you're wondering.)
According to the article, Broom discovered, stored in a toffee
jar wrapped in a copy of the Daily Mirror dated October of 1947, what appears,
visually at least, to be an alien being - a discovery which has "spooked
the 54-year-old screenwriter and bewildered extraterrestrial experts." JINKEES, SCOOBY DOO!
What are we supposed to believe, based on the information
we've received thus far, in my opinion? The baby E.T. in England (or whatever
it is) was left in the attic of Mr. Broom's house, presumably physical evidence
that the Roswell incident of 1947 did, in fact, involve extraterrestrials.
Never mind the fact that the Roswell incident didn't take place in England,
but in Roswell, New Mexico, USA! Some airman, I suppose we are to believe,
stole the pickled baby E.T.which somehow got from New Mexico to England,
wrapped its container in a newspaper, placed it in his attic and just left
it there when he moved out.
I can see how it happened now.....
"Sweetheart, I think we have everything packed."
"Okay, let's head back to the states."
"By the way, did you pack the extraterrestrial I stole from the Air
Force base - the one the men in black would kill me for having if it ever
was discovered I had it?"
"No. Silly me! I must've left it in the attic! Totally forgot the
little guy!"
"It's okay, dear. Better we leave it there to be discovered 50 or
60 years from now than get caught with it anyhow."
Have I gone mad? No. What I hope I'm implying here is how easily things we
read in the newspaper or see on television news shows can lead us to wonder, just wonder, if an absoutely incredulous story like the one presented
by screenwriter Barney Broom could actually be true, which leads us
to the real purpose of this commentary - an examination of the great delusion Bible prophecy tells us is going to come upon many in the prophetic future.
The Bible tells us that, after the Rapture of the Church takes place, the
Antichrist will be revealed to the world, as seen in 2nd Thessalonians 2:8:
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom
the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy
with the brightness of his coming:
His satanic power will be immense at the time he comes forth to deceive the
world, having the greatest impact on those who willfully rejected the gospel
of Jesus Christ prior to that time, as seen in 2nd Thessalonians 2:9-10:
[Even him], whose coming is after the
working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all
deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received
not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
Those who will be most susceptible to the lies of the Antichrist
will be those who heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, understood their need
to come to faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and received Him not!
Upon these poor souls, God will send a strong delusion that they should
believe a lie - the lie the Antichrist will bring forth. I often tell people
who are living in rebellion against God's will that it is unbelievably dangerous
to reject God's call to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord
and Savior, particularly in light of the following passage of Scripture,
2nd Thessalonians 2:11-12:
And for this cause God shall
send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they
all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in
unrighteousness.
If you're living your life in rejection of the gospel of Jesus
Christ today, consider yourself warned. Although you may not believe it,
if the Rapture should happen in the not-too-distant future and a leader
of Roman descent (who will have confirmed a covenant of peace seven precise
years in length in the Middle East in fulfillment of Daniel 9:26-27) should
begin feeding the world a gigantic lie to explain the disappearance of many,
many Christians from around the globe, you may be among the first to believe
it, even if you have read this commentary which tells you that you may believe
a great big lie if these things should come to pass in your lifetime!
If the Rapture should happen tomorrow, who knows what lie
the world is going to be fed? Barney Broom's alien, for example, upon examination
by respected members of the scientific community, may be reported to be
physical evidence that extraterrestrials have been involved in the affairs
of mankind throughout the ages, potentially to the extent that they are
to be thanked, literally, for our existence as a species in an intergalactic
community. Far-fetched? I certainly don't think so.
Given the option of believing that an advanced race of alien
beings is responsible for their existence or believing in a God who will
judge them for their rebellion against Him, which option do you believe
those presently rejecting the gospel of Jesus Christ would choose to believe
as truth in the Tribulation Period to come? As for me, I'm betting on the
former as opposed to the latter. It worries me --- and greatly.
