Few sense the end is near!

by Michael G. Mickey

(10-6-06)

How can mankind be so collectively numb between the ears when it comes to what's going on in the world around us that tells us we're swiftly drawing near the time of Christ's return to receive His Church unto Himself (John 14:3), after which He will try them that dwell upon the earth (Revelation 3:10)? It's something that leaves me bewildered, quite frankly.

How does someone read, for example, an Associated Press article stating that "as many as half the world's species may face extinction by 2100 because of pollution, climate change, human population growth and other influences" and go on as though it's nothing, rarely, if at all, giving pause to consider that Jesus Christ could come at any moment?

If it's true that half of the food chain could be gone in a mere 94 years, what does that tell us in relation to the timing of Jesus Christ's return? It tells me it's very soon yet few in the world around me share my sentiments. They can't see that we're on the verge of catastrophe, mostly because they don't want to. "That just can't be true," they say. "I have big plans for my future."

It's great that people have goals, but what about all the souls presently on their way to hell because secular mankind, as well as many in the Body of Christ itself, are so distracted by the gadgets and gizmos in their lives and the never-ending drive to get one rung higher up the ladder of success that there's no time for anything else, including the study of God's Word?

I couldn't agree more with the title of a LiveScience.com article, which is "Snowball Effect Fuels Arctic Meltdown." What we're witnessing, both environmentally and morally, is a snowball effect! The world is in a mess and it continues to get into a bigger and bigger one with each and every passing day!

The LiveScience.com article tells us just how frightening our present environmental situation is, stating that a "pair of studies out this week along with other recent evidence suggests an observed meltdown of Arctic ice is snowballing into a situation that could leave the North Pole ice-free during summer in just a few decades." How many people are you hearing bring that tidbit of frightening information up by the water cooler at work? Not many I'd be willing to bet. Would you like to know why? They're scared that it's true! Absolutely scared stiff, even the most ungodly of the bunch! Why? Because, if these things are true, the pursuit of their various lusts which keep them from coming to faith in Jesus Christ are swiftly coming to an end and down deep in their wicked hearts, regardless of how cocky and bold they may seem on the outside, they're shaking in their boots knowing that judgment isn't going to be delayed indefinitely. So, as opposed to repenting of their sinful lifestyles and coming to faith in Jesus Christ, they simply ignore these matters as though that's somehow going to make everything alright.

And then there's our moral snowball effect. How sad is it that a homosexual predator like former House Republican Mark Foley can walk the hallowed halls of the United States Congress while sending all kinds of sexually provocative instant messages, e-mails and the like to young boys? Furthermore, how can it be known of from as long ago as 2005, perhaps, and no resolute action be taken to put a stop to it, as implied in a Fox News story?

While I respect House Speaker Dennis Hastert, I can't help but believe he's bending the truth more than a little when he states that all he'd heard was that Foley's "innappropriate messages" were merely "over-friendly." Our world is so horribly corrupt today that hardly anyone will take a stand for what's right! Shameful, isn't it? How can anyone doubt that Christ is going to have to step in when the wicked in power are so abusive of others? But few think that's a signal of the end times, even though 25 years ago Foley's homosexuality alone would've been considered shameful in light of the teachings of the Word of God. Remember those times? That was when the Bible was still interpreted to be literal truth and most people lived their lives as thought it were. Those who chose to live outside God's will were ashamed for people to know it, but not now. They're right out in the open with it, making a mockery of the Most High God on a daily basis! Oh, how far we have fallen yet few sense the end is near!

Lastly, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, as seen in a consumeraffairs.com article, demonstrated the direction the REAL ID Act is taking us when he vetoed a bill yesterday, the goal of which was to restrict the use of "spychip" technology in his state. Why did he veto it? Because the "measure might contradict forthcoming federal guidance for technology used in government identification, specifically relating to the REAL ID act, which mandates national standards for verifying the identity of driver's license applicants." As I continue to document on this site, we're well on our way toward the prophesied mark of the beast becoming a global reality. Spychip technology is RFID technology and we all know that there are implantable RFID microchip companies marketing products very similar in description to the prophesied mark of the beast right now! In spite of that freaky information being commonly known of and in the news on an ever-increasing basis, few sense the end is near.

By the time many figure out that the end is near, it's going to be here --- and too late to avoid falling victim to the horrors of the seven-year Tribulation Period to come.

Church, we have a lot of reaching out to do - and fast!
