| State of Denial: Russia is in the Axis of Evil!

In a recent commentary, I discussed how few today sense that we're living in the end times, many of them walking in blindness due to a self-imposed state of denial based on the pursuit of their worldly lusts. Today, however, I want to discuss a state of denial of a different kind altogether - a state of denial that there is a new member of the Axis of Evil and what that means for our world. Well, to be more accurate, there is a new member of the Axis of Evil in the form of Russia that is now FINALLY beginning to be taken notice of.
Have you ever seen a picture of Vladimir Putin shaking hands with Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and wondered why? I have. How about a picture of Vladimir Putin shaking hands with North Korea's Kim Jong Il? Ditto for me! Maybe there's something to that, huh? You better believe it! Let me share with you now some information gathered from a number of sources and then I'll try, as best I can, to wrap it all up for you in a nice easy-to-see package:

Author Joel Rosenberg wrote a commentary on this date I hope all my site's readers will look over, particularly noting Russia's relationship with North Korea and Iran of late. Among the numerous claims made by Rosenberg in the commentary are the following:
- Russia signed a $1 billion arms deal with Iran in December 2005, providing the radical Islamic regime in Tehran high-speed missile and other high-tech weaponry, despite Ahmadinejad's call to annihilate the U.S. and Israel two months earlier. Are we in denial as to what that means, especially when we couple it with Russia's assistance of Iran in building its nuclear reactors?
- In 2005, Putin actually personally awarded a medal of honor to the North Korean dictator who is starving his own people and threatening the world with nuclear war. Are we in denial as to what Putin giving a medal to Kim Jog Il tells us??? I think we definitely are!

Rosenberg has written a new book entitled "Epicenter: Why the Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your Future" (Tyndale House), according to an Agape Press article. The article indicates Rosenberg believes Russia is in the Axis of Evil with Iran, calling it a "dangerous development." This may have very strong prophetic implications as we look at Ezekiel 38-39. In fact, I'd say there is no doubt Rosenberg's assessment is accurate as these two are prophesied to be allies during the Gog-Magog attack to come as I've documented often on the site.

DEBKAfile is reporting that S. Lebanon’s largest town, Sidon, is being taken over as a Russian-Syrian spy base and Hizballah stronghold. We all know that Syria acts as a proxy of Iran which again links Russia to the Axis of Evil.

Most ominously of all, a Jerusalem Post commentary by Caroline Glick states that
"the clouds of the coming war are converging upon Israel. But our political and military leaders refuse to look up at the darkening sky." The clouds of what coming war, you ask? One Glick refers to as involving an "awakening Russian bear" under the leadership of former KGB commander President Vladimir Putin. Russia, according to Glick, is "reasserting its traditional hostility towards Israel." One way the Russian bear demonstrated this was by providing Hezbollah valuable intelligence information concerning Israeli Defense Forces during the recent Israeli-Hezbollah conflict, according to Glick who views Russia's friendship with Israel's most vile enemies in the context all of us should who are monitoring world events leading up to fulfillment of Bible prophecy.
In Caroline Glick's Jerusalem Post commentary, I think she addresses how oblivious people are in our day and age brilliantly in the framework of discussing how those in Israel are perceiving or, more appropriately, denying the threat posed by Russia and friends. I want to borrow her words somewhat in closing this commentary. She wrote:
Any objective observer of the developments in our region understands that the storm of war is rapidly approaching us. With Moscow's blessing, the Palestinians, Hizbullah, Syria and Iran are steadfastly preparing for battle.
Clearly, a storm of war is rapidly approaching for the Middle East ---and the world. As we look at the signs of Christ's return as presented in the Word of God, any objective observer can not avoid understanding that the storm clouds gathering over Israel are a sign that Jesus Christ is coming soon! Unless, of course, one has an agenda of their own which causes them to look all over the place at the world around them, unable to see the forest for the trees.
