The Axis of Evil's North Korea sets off a nuke!

by Michael G. Mickey

(10-9-06)

In spite of pleas and threats made by numerous nations around the globe, North Korea, a member nation of what President Bush hailed an "Axis of Evil", has set off a nuclear weapon as threatened, as seen in an Associated Press article. This doesn't appear, based on the story, to be fearful theory but fact. The story details the following evidence:

  1. The U.S. Geological Survey is indicating it recorded a magnitude-4.2 seismic event in northeastern North Korea.
  2. Australia and South Korea are also reporting seismic confirmation that points to a nuclear test.
  3. A top Russian military officer confirmed the device tested by North Korea was a nuclear weapon, according to the ITAR-Tass news agency.

There are no denials coming from North Korea as to what took place, as seen in the AP story which indicates North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency is claiming "the underground test was performed successfully and there was no dangerous radioactive leakage as a result", calling it a "a stirring time when all the people of the country are making a great leap forward in the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation."

Frightening? Yes. A sign of tremendous peril on the prophetic horizon? Yes. An indication that Jesus Christ is coming soon? Quite probably, in my opinion.

Will mankind wake up NOW concerning the lateness of the hour we're living in?

Will this incredible event in terms of the danger it represents to the West, particularly the United States, remedy end times skepticism somewhat or be but a momentary blip on the radar screen of most people? Sadly, I believe it will be the latter barring a direct military strike on North Korea by members of the international community wise enough to realize that, while President Bush has not been right in everything he has said or done during his tenure as President of the United States, he was right on target when he called North Korea, along with Iran and Iraq, an "Axis of Evil" that needs to be dealt with in whatever manner possible.

As I documented in a previous commentary, few today seem to sense we're living in the days leading up to the end times, which is itself, by the way, a sign that we're living in the end times, as documented in 2nd Peter 3:3-4:

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

I wonder if North Korea setting off a nuclear weapon will hold the attention of a world that has forgotten its God more than momentarily? Will those who refuse to examine the evidence around them pointing to the soon coming return of Jesus Christ now pause for a moment and take a hard look at what so many of us have been trying to tell them for so long or merely continue wandering down the path to destruction, oblivious to everything going on around them?

While I wish I could say I believe a nuclear explosion taking place under the guidance of one of the world's most maniacal leaders in the form of North Korea's Kim Jong Il would register on the radar of the world at large, I can't. Bible prophecy tells us that the world will be largely surprised when God's wrath, in the form of the seven-year Tribulation Period to come, is unleashed on unrepentant mankind, just as the case was in the days of Noah.

Matthew 24:37-39: But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

A flood of God's judgment on a wicked world is coming, believe it or not! The clouds are gathering, the sky is dark, and it looks like rain from the perspective of many who believe in a literal interpretation of the Word of God.

Does it look like rain in your world or are you too self-absorbed to look up toward heaven to notice? Now is a great time to be asking yourself that all important question. If it doesn't look like rain in your world, perhaps you need to reflect deeply on what Christ and the prophets indicate through the Word of God are the signs predictive of Jesus Christ's return.

Sinner who refuses to repent and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, WAKE UP!

Saints of God, keep looking up! Our redemption draweth nigh!
