Crime Growing at an Alarming Pace

by Michael G. Mickey

(10-15-06)

Having recently lost a friend in law enforcement due to the actions of a cold-blooded killer, I'd be lying if I said it hasn't been nice, although quite painful, to get away from the stresses of my day job for a bit due to a recent surgical procedure I had which I'm still recovering from.

To say that seeing evil up close and personal on a day-to-day basis is mentally exhausting is an understatement, but there's something else I often note on the job that troubles me a great deal. I often find myself surprised by how unaware most people are concerning just how evil our world is becoming - a sign, in my opinion, of how spiritually disconnected most people have become in terms of sensing the presence of evil in the world around them.

For many years I've made the comment that although our world can seem quite peaceful at times, there is a darkness I sense that lies just beneath the surface of our society's visible environment so sinister in nature it's almost incomprehensible. In support of that sense of impending darkness I have, which many of my site's readers are familiar with as well I'm quite sure, I want to introduce the following AOL News story entitled "Study Finds Crime Growing at 'Alarming Pace'" as evidence.

The story indicates the nation is on the verge of a "crime epidemic", according to a report to be released at a conference of police chiefs presently underway. Notably, according to the story, the report indicates "violent crime across America is "accelerating at an alarming pace.""

The following is an example of the story's content that is quite telling as to the influence the powers of darkness are having in shaping our world today:

The murder numbers, as revealed in this report, are staggering. Orlando, Fla., had 30 murders from January to June 2006, compared with seven in the same period in 2005. The number of murders went up 60 percent in San Antonio, 27 percent in Boston and 26 percent in Houston.

Is this what we'd expect to see taking place in the end times? Yes it is. We're told in Matthew 24:37: But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Matthew 24:38-39 describes the world of Noah's time leading up to the Great Flood. Mankind was eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark. Those in Noah's day never sensed a Flood was coming until the raging waters of God's judgment took them all away. That alone sounds a lot like today's world, doesn't it? Sure it does, but there's more to the story of what was going on in Noah's day than mankind being self-absorbed. Genesis 6:11 tells us the earth in Noah's day was corrupt before God and was filled with violence!

Crime was undoubtedly growing at an alarming pace in Noah's day just as it is today! The problem was no one noticed, allowing it to spread like an out-of control wildfire - one God eventually extinguished via the Great Flood. So it shall be at the time of the coming of the son of man!

Ready to fly?
