The revived Roman empire plans for yet another Middle East peace push!

As I've stated on many occasions, based solely on Daniel 9:26-27, the future of any fruitful (albeit deceptive) Middle East peacemaking effort rests in the hands of the revived Roman empire we today call the European Union. Of interest to those of us who keep track of such matters in our watch for the return of Jesus Christ, the European Union is presently planning another push for Middle East peace.

The International Herald Tribune is reporting that EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana will be traveling to the Middle East next week to "to assess efforts in trying to revive the stalled Middle East peace process." During his trip, he will "visit Israel, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon, and meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas."

Interestingly, as Solana and his EU contingent plan their trip, Zee News is reporting that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is saying he is "ready to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas "immediately" to discuss the stalled Middle East peace process." Interesting, huh?

Recently, as seen in a BBC report, Syria's Bashar Assad said the United States does not have "the will or vision" to pursue peace in the Middle East, adding that President Bush could not be an "impartial umpire." What Assad didn't say is who could act in such a role. The prophet Daniel, however, did!

In Daniel 9:26-27, we're told that a prince (or leader) of Roman descent is going to confirm (or make strong) a covenant of peace in the Middle East that will be precisely seven years in length. This prince (or leader) will be the prophesied Antichrist - a deceiver whose actions will make him seem a hero in the eyes of the entire world. His seven-year covenant of peace, we're told, will be supported by a cast of "many", potentially symbolic of an internationally-accepted peace plan like the Quartet's roadmap to peace. The confirmation and subsequent celebration of this peace plan will begin the prophesied seven-year Tribulation Period - the countdown to Jesus Christ's visible, physical, bodily return to the earth!

What does RaptureAlert.com, therefore, consider the upcoming EU peacemaking effort? Potential, of course! Potential that we may be on the verge of meeting our Lord in the air!
