When Ties No Longer Bind

In yesterday's commentary, I highlighted how the Gog-Magog attack of Ezekiel 38, 39 was taking shape, particularly as it relates to the nation of Turkey. Presently, Turkey is a NATO member and in the accession process for European Union membership.

Yesterday, I indicated that a tear was beginning to form in Turkey's unseemly relationship with the West that may be leading it away from EU membership in preparation for its participation in the prophesied Gog-Magog attack on Israel where we find it will be aligned with a new group of allies. In Ezekiel 38, we find the following nations will be allied against Israel:

Magog - Most agree this is a reference to Russia.
Meshech - Most associate this with modern day Turkey, ancient Anatolia, but some say it refers to the Moscow area.
Tubal - Most associate this with modern day Turkey, ancient Anatolia.
Persia - modern Iran
Ethiopia
Libya
Gomer - eastern Europe or Turkey
Togarmah - southeastern Europe or Turkey

As compelling as the information I presented yesterday was that Turkey seems to be headed precisely where Bible prophecy tells us it is going, today's bombshell is even more convincing! The New York Times as well as NASDAQ is reporting that NATO member Turkey has frozen its military ties with fellow NATO member and EU member France in retaliation to the French parliament's support for a bill making it a crime to deny claims of an Armenian genocide taking place at Turkish hands in WWI. Couple the latest EU member-Turkey conflict with the EU-Turkey conflict over Turkey's refusal to negotiate a deal that would see Turkey open its ports and airports to traffic from EU member state Cyprus and you have a major diplomatic crisis on your hands where Turkey's potential future as an EU member is concerned.

Clearly, Turkey can't be a member in a powerful economic bloc like the European Union without working hand-in-hand economically with all the union's members. Likewise, Turkey's latest move raises the question of whether Turkey can remain a member of a military alliance like NATO when it severs its military ties with one of its military allies!

When ties no longer bind, the prophetic winds of change may be on the verge of blowing in a new direction in preparation for the Gog-Magog attack of Ezekiel 38 & 39.
