A very active day for RaptureAlert.com

by Michael G. Mickey

(11-30-06)

Yesterday was one of the busiest days of Christian witnessing I've had in my life - a very active day for RaptureAlert.com.

First, I did a live radio appearance on Ken Bagwell's "Heads Up America" from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., during which we discussed Ezekiel 38-39, the Gog-Magog invasion attempt. This on a secular radio station no less! Praise the Lord I was given that amazing opportunity as Ken was very gracious in allowing me ample opportunity to explain how current events taking place in the world around us are setting the stage for literal fulfillment of that prophetic event to occur. It is my prayer that RaptureAlert.com picked up some new readers through the show and that the eyes of some who are skeptical as to the accuracy of the prophetic Word of God were opened. There was a lot of Scripture read on air which I pray struck the hearts of all who listened as only the Word of God can!

Almost immediately after that, a brother in Christ I attend church with, Todd Brewster, called me to see if I'd help him do some videotaped interviewing on the streets of Blacksburg, Virginia for an upcoming youth rally that will be taking place in the New River Valley of Virginia in the near future. Our mission was to get a feel for what people think about Jesus, matters of faith, questions of whether or not people believe we'll be judged by God and the like. Each contact was either with a stranger or a group of strangers. As you can imagine, the responses we got were varied. Many of them gave us hope. Others left us frightened - literally. To say that many today have fallen into any number of spiritual pitfalls is an understatement.

After walking the streets of Blacksburg for approximately two hours in the afternoon, Todd and I went to our church and loaded up a group of teens and some more adults and headed back out to pass out flyers and do more street witnessing on film. In our second outing, I encountered both believers and non-believers and found a couple of common trends of concern.

Many of those who are believers readily stated they had accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, but when asked in follow-up if there was any alternative way to heaven other than through faith in Jesus Christ, were either hesitant or struggled to state that truth with boldness, providing me an opportunity to address the topic with them and get them to agree with me by interview's end that there is not an alternate way to heaven than through Jesus Christ. I praise the Lord for the opportunity I was given to solidify them on that issue and to see their position on the matter strengthened right there on the spot! I told them we need to be bold witnesses for our Lord, even in a world where people are hesitant to just come right out and say what we know to be true! We are, after all, Christians!

One group of girls I spoke with in our second session immediately stated that Jesus Christ was their Lord and Savior. I asked, in follow-up, if there was any other way to heaven and one of the girls, without any hesitance whatsoever, said that was the consensus among them. I further asked them there, within a block of the Virginia Tech campus, if they had any idea how many people they were attending school with them needed someone to tell them that to which another of the trio replied, "About 24,000." Before we parted ways, I told them how badly their voices need to be heard, especially in their generation, and how much I respected them as sisters in Christ. I pray that these three girls' lights will shine brightly at Virginia Tech, according to God's will, along with all the other believers we encountered!

And then there was the guy the second team of street witnesses interviewed as he ate pizza during a filmed interview in a nearby parking lot. He was representative of the second common trend of concern we saw as a group in that he had no spiritual grounding whatsoever. If he had ever been churched, it wasn't properly because he said, among other things, that Satan, God and Jesus are "all in the trenches here on earth" where each of them are trying to accomplish the exact same thing. He also, being dead serious, said that Jesus was a really cool guy from Africa and he probably had no idea what His purpose was in this world.

As this gentleman shared his intellect with our teen interviewer who was taking him to task I might add, he quoted someone whose name she didn't recognize. When asked who the man he was referring to was, he replied that he was a mathematician to which she countered, "You're willing to place your faith in mathematics, but you're not willing to place your faith in the Holy Bible?" He countered that by saying that faith is a "dangerous thing" to which I would interject later, as we watched the tape at our church before parting ways at the end of our day of witnessing, "Faith really is a dangerous thing.....especially if you don't have any!" When asked where he would go if he should die today, he said he'd go to hell. Was he worried about that? "Absolutely not," he replied. That would be because this poor, spiritually-blind man has never been taught to fear God and keep His commandments nor has he heard the truth about hell! As the Body of Christ, this should rattle us to the core!

Stone cold witnessing to strangers, brothers and sisters in Christ, is life on the edge. You don't know what you're going to hear, how people will respond to you, and how you are going to come up with the right answer to reach a soul in trouble which requires you to place your faith squarely in the Holy Spirit to guide you. Even so, I have to say that yesterday was one of the very best days of my Christian life as we talked to many, many people, all of whom were impacted in some manner, many of them to the point of tears welling up in their eyes.

So, yesterday was a good day for RaptureAlert.com, although it may not have been shown on the website itself due to all the day's activities taking time from the near-daily work I do here. Speaking of my day's activities yesterday, I want to challenge every Christian who reads this to take just one day out of their busy lives to step out of their comfort zone, hit the streets and do a bit of witnessing for the Lord here in these end times. While video cameras are optional, brotherly love, Scriptural truth and political incorrectness is not!

Keep looking up for Christ's return, but don't stop looking around for someone to tell about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ until He DOES return! Clearly, based on what I saw yesterday, we have a great deal of work left to be done!
