| Amid a sudden surge of hope in the Middle East

The opening paragraphs of a Jerusalem Post article (emphasis added mine):
Amid a sudden surge of hope for movement toward peace on the part of Israelis and Palestinians, the European Union's foreign policy chief Javier Solana is due to arrive here on Friday from Jordan.
Solana last visited the region at the end of October. On Saturday he plans to meet with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and on Sunday with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
A source close to Solana told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday that the policy chief "would like to see a meeting between Abu Mazen (Abbas) and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. We would like to see confidence-building measures on both sides and a return to the Road Map."
Interesting, on many fronts. As I've documented recently, Italy, Spain and France have been floating the idea of a new Middle East peace initiative yet here we see that Javier Solana, the man whose voice is presently the voice of European Union foreign policy, is hoping to get Ehud Olmert and Mahmoud Abbas (AKA Abu Mazen) to restart the stalled and stagnating Road Map peace plan of the international Quartet of Russia, the United States, the European Union and the United Nations.
I have to admit this initially set me back a bit, primarily because I figured Solana, himself a Spaniard, would begin focusing on the new peace angle as it seems, from my perspective, that the new Spain-France-Italy peace initiative would best set the stage for the European Union to become, unofficially at least, the world's greatest peacemaking force. Maybe, quite frankly, I'm not giving the clever minds of the EU's leadership enough credit! Perhaps they're thinking in bigger terms than I am, which isn't always a difficult thing as I'm a simple man, as my wife can attest. According to her, while I can think logically on the BIG things, I struggle with the simpler things, like knowing to take something for a headache when I get one, but that's another story altogether.
If Solana was thinking solely of the EU stealing the stage, the Spain-Italy-France peace initiative would be just the ticket, but if he is thinking as the globalist, new world order kind of guy I suspect he and most of his EU compadres are? In that scenario, the Road Map would seem the logical choice, especially if Solana could spearhead a diplomatic effort on behalf of the revived Roman empire and somehow pull the Road Map out of the abyss it has seemingly fallen into, essentially "saving the day" for the international community.
Antichrist speculation disclaimer:
Whenever I bring up Solana, I almost feel guilty to do so as I don't want to lead anyone to believe that I am suggesting, in any manner whatsoever, that he is the prophesied Antichrist in the making, in spite of the fact the name Javier Solana is as near to synonymous with EU peacemaking as any I can think of. It is, after all, his task in particular as his title of High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy suggests! Does this mean that Javier Solana in this or any other scenario is the only man capable of confirming peace in the Middle East "with many" in fulfillment of Daniel's prophecy? Absolutely not! For all we know, Solana could get hit by a bus tomorrow and die! Amen? The same article referenced in this commentary also makes reference to Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero's recent call for a peacekeeping force in Gaza "as part of a five-point peace plan that had the support of France and Italy." That, too, is still on the table, is completely a revived Roman empire plan, and could result in confirmation of any agreed-upon peace covenant in the region.
Having said that, we now return to our regularly scheduled programming, which is on Solana's peacemaking push on behalf of the Quartet.
Solana's other goals for the weekend
Along with working to arrange a meeting of some sort between the Palestinian and Israeli leadership, Solana will be, in what likely represents the "confidence-building measures" he is going to be working on, striving to get each side of the conflict to release prisoners being held. If he could secure the release of IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit who was kidnapped by Hamas on the Gaza border in June, I'd say the Israelis would reciprocate and release some Palestinians, elevating EU peacemaking stock in the region dramatically. No predictions on whether that will take place, of course, but it would certainly perk the ears of the Israelis up greatly where the EU's peacemaking abilities are concerned, especially with Solana talking about reinvigorating the Quartet's Road Map peace plan, which would keep the United States involved in things, which Israel clearly feels is necessary for them to have any voice other than their own supportive of their well-being involved in the peace process.
Spain, Italy and France have a new five-point peace initiative they'd like to get rolling to resolve the Middle East conflict, but the EU's #1 voice in foreign policy, Javier Solana, is on the ground in the Middle East pressing the flesh while seeming content to stick with the Quartet's peace plan, at least for now.
What will happen next? No one knows other than God, but we are clearly moving toward the Rapture of the Church and the advent of Antichrist with all these feverish efforts to establish Middle East peace presently underway! And yes, the world is feverishly obsessed with resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict! A source I read earlier which has apparently, at the moment at least, either renamed or removed its article indicated the United Nations General Assembly heard speaker after speaker refer to resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as the key to Middle East stability on 11-30-06. Hopefully, the article in question will magically reappear at some point as it ran down a lengthy list of those who held that position at the meeting.
In closing, amid a sudden surge of hope in the Middle East, a leader from the revived Roman empire of Bible prophecy who recently received a prestigious peacemaking award at The Hague, namely Javier Solana, is demonstrating the accuracy of Bible prophecy by showing us that the ever-growing, power hungry Beast government he represents has its eyes on the Middle East with peace and safety on its mind. That, brothers and sisters in Christ, should have us all sitting on the edge of our seats ---- and looking up, of course.
