| The lone remaining barrier to the mark of the beast?

The opening of a Toronto Star article reads like a fictionalized account of the fulfillment of Bible prophecy, but it isn't. Much like many other topics I discuss here, it isn't the stuff of fables, fairy tales, or any other type of fiction! Rather, it is cold, hard truth. It's current NEWS --- and we need to be talking about it to everyone willing to listen.
The Toronto Star article opens as follows:
A generation is all they need
One day we will all happily be implanted with microchips, and our every move will be monitored. The technology exists; the only barrier is society's resistance to the loss of privacy
Any student of Bible prophecy knows what the above-described sounds like! It sounds very much like the prophesied mark of the beast, as described in Revelation 13:16-17:
And he [the False Prophet of the Antichrist to come] causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
As we look at the Toronto Star article, we see the author of the article, Kevin Haggerty, believes a generation is all "they" will need to convince humanity to "happily" be implanted with microchips to be monitored around the clock. The only barrier to this taking place, from his perspective, is society's resistance to the loss of privacy the technology will bring.
The technology that I believe could well constitute the mark of the beast in the prophetic future exists now according to the author - a point I totally agree with! How many times have I asserted we're nearing the return of Jesus Christ for His Church as well as the advent of the Antichrist and all that comes with that taking place in this age of no swipe credit cards, RFID-implanted identification cards and the like?
Sadly, for those who are presently ignorant as to where the implantable microchip (or a similar technology) is leading us, the loss of privacy that will come along with the technology's societal acceptance is nothing in cost compared to what acceptance of the prophesied mark of the beast will cost those who line up to take it in the Tribulation Period to come --- the loss of their eternal souls! Accepting the mark of the beast, from the point of its introduction forward, will be synonymous with the worship of the Antichrist as God, bringing with it eternal damnation as revealed in Revelation 14:9-11:
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast [the Antichrist] and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
While the author of the article doesn't touch on the prophetic significance of his opinions, I want to share the following excerpt from his well-written piece on the topic of implantable microchip technologies (emphasis added mine):
In the coming years some of the most powerful institutional actors in society will start to align themselves to entice, coerce, and occasionally compel the next generation to get an implant.
Now, therefore, is the time to contemplate the unprecedented dangers of this scenario. The most serious of these concern how even comparatively stable modern societies will, in times of fear, embrace treacherous promises. How would the prejudices of a Joe McCarthy, J. Edgar Hoover, or of southern Klansmen — all of whom were deeply integrated into the American political establishment — have manifest themselves in such a world? What might Hitler, Mao or Milosevic have accomplished if their citizens were chipped, coded, and remotely monitored?
Choirs of testimonials will soon start to sing the virtues of implants. Calm reassurances will be forthcoming about democratic traditions, the rule of law, and privacy rights. History, unfortunately, shows that things can go disastrously wrong, and that this happens with disconcerting regularity. Little in the way of international agreements, legality, or democratic sensibilities has proved capable of thwarting single-minded ruthlessness.
"It can't happen here" has become the whispered swan song of the disappeared. Best to contemplate these dystopian potentials before we proffer the tender forearms of our sons and daughters. While we cannot anticipate all of the positive advantages that might be derived from this technology, the negative prospects are almost too terrifying to contemplate.
I wholeheartedly encourage all my site's readers to share both this commentary and the Toronto Star article that underpins it with everyone they possibly can as the two together make a compelling case in favor of the literal fulfillment of Bible prophecy coming into view in the world around us - and clearly!
Indeed, as the author of the article indicates, the global elite, even as you read these words, are plotting to bring about a one-world government. Bible prophecy tells us a one-world government of sorts, although it will not stand completely unopposed, will ultimately be led by the Antichrist - a prince (or leader) of Roman descent whose peacemaking skills will capture the majority of humanity in his demonic web of deception when he somehow lays the cornerstone of the new world order by confirming (or making strong) a seven-year covenant of peace in the Middle East between Israel and her enemies. All of this I know to be true based on Daniel 9:26-27 and Revelation 6:2.
What indeed might Hitler, Mao or Milosevic have accomplished if their citizens were chipped, coded, and remotely monitored as the author of the Toronto Star article questions? I think Bible prophecy gives us our answer as it reveals that the world's all-time greatest dictator, who hasn't yet been revealed to the world but is highly likely to be in the world in my opinion, will ruthlessly wage war and manipulate mankind to the point that the survival of all life on the planet will be threatened during his reign of power. By necessity and God's mercy, the reign of Antichrist will come to an abrupt end at Armageddon, seven years after he will have promised "peace and safety" to the world.
The author of the Toronto Star article was very close to accurate when he wrote: "While we cannot anticipate all of the positive advantages that might be derived from this technology, the negative prospects are almost too terrifying to contemplate." He's very close to correct but not completely from a biblical point of view. While he says the negative prospects of implantable microchip technology are almost too terrifying to contemplate, the Bible tells us that the period of time wherein a technology like this will be forced upon mankind will be the most horrific period of time the human mind can comprehend. Imagine your worst nightmare and quadruple it! You get the idea, right?
Matthew 24:21-22: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Do "they" really need an entire generation to convince the world to take the mark of the beast?
A generation is all "they" are going to need to convince mankind to accept the implantable microchip, in the opinion of writer Kevin Haggerty. I don't think it's even going to take that long to brainwash the world into accepting the mark of the beast. Why? Because after the Rapture of the Church occurs, 2nd Thessalonians 2:11 tells us God is going to send a strong delusion on many of those left behind that they should believe a lie, notably those who "received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved" as stated in 2nd Thessalonians 2:10.
Many who will read this very commentary, in spite of all they've heard concerning Bible prophecy, the mark of the beast and their need to come to faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior before it is too late, will ignore what they've seen herein as being relevant to Bible prophecy, not because they truly believe that in the depths of their soul but because they are presently taking too much pleasure in their unrighteousness to accept Christ.
For all I know, this may be the last commentary I ever write for RaptureAlert.com this side of the Rapture of the Church, which is why I am so glad I received the gift of salvation, by the grace of God, early in my life. What about you? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, are you ready to do so tonight, or are you going to roll the dice yet again and put off until tomorrow what could well be your last chance to come to faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior this side of the Rapture of the Church? With all that's presently going on that is absolutely SCREAMING to a lost and dying world that Jesus Christ is coming soon, I wouldn't set the issue of my salvation aside for even one minute! Why? Because you don't know, amid all the prophetic warning signs on display around us today, that you actually have a minute to spare. Think about it.
