Are you ready to be a robot?

According to a Miami Herald report, which I encourage everyone to read in its entirety, we'll all be cyborgs someday.

A cyborg is a human who has certain physiological processes aided or controlled by mechanical or electronic devices. Do you think that's a realistic possibility? If not, you should.

Consider the following excerpts from the article (emphasis added mine):

A scientist at the University of Reading is in the vanguard of futurists who look forward to the day when most humans are implanted with computer microchips -- and he's using himself as his own guinea pig.

And...

In Casino Royale, the latest James Bond movie, Bond is implanted with a microchip that allows headquarters to track his whereabouts and monitor his vital signs.

If a British cybernetics expert is right, the day will come when most people are implanted with chips -- and the real-life chips will do a lot more than Bond's does in the movie.

Now, let's look at Bible prophecy. In Revelation 13:16-17 we're told the following:

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Let me explain the connection.

What we see in Revelation 13:16-17 is that the False Prophet of the final global dictator to come, the prophesied Antichrist who will arrive on the world stage as a hero as a result of  confirming a seven-year covenant of peace in the Middle East between Israel and her enemies, is going to require all mankind, as a symbol of allegiance to the Antichrist, to accept what is commonly referred to as the mark of the beast. Those who accept the mark will be able to buy and sell. Those who don't accept the Antichrist as their god will refuse to do so and will, subsequently, be hunted down to be killed.

Could the implantable microchip be the mark of the beast in the making? Let's look at what we can learn about the mark of the beast by carefully examining the original text of Revelation 13:16-17.

The word 'mark' in the original Greek is charagma {khar'-ag-mah}, which is defined as:

1) a stamp, an imprinted mark

a) of the mark stamped on the forehead or the right hand as the badge of the followers of the Antichrist

b) the mark branded upon horses

2) thing carved, sculpture, graven work

a) of idolatrous images

1) to write, with reference to the form of the letters

a) to delineate (or form) letters on a tablet, parchment, paper, or other material

2) to write, with reference to the contents of the writing

a) to express in written characters

b) to commit to writing (things not to be forgotten), write down, record

c) used of those things which stand written in the sacred books (of the OT)

d) to write to one, i.e. by writing (in a written epistle) to give information, directions

3) to fill with writing

4) to draw up in writing, compose
