Ted Kennedy's fight against 'terrorism' at home

by Michael G. Mickey
(10-8-07)

Leave it to someone like the honorable Ted Kennedy, Democratic Senator from Massachusetts, to try and slip one over on us and to do so when his actions undermine the funding of our troops fighting the war on terror in Iraq.

As reported in an Associated Press article, the Democrat-led Senate voted recently to "let federal law enforcement help states prosecute attacks on homosexuals, attaching the provision to a massive spending bill for the Iraq war and daring President Bush to veto the whole package."

Now, if you're like me, you're wondering why in the world a domestic hate crimes bill was attached to legislation that, if vetoed, damages the funding of our soldiers fighting the war on terror in Iraq. The answer is simple. Democrats like Ted Kennedy are dedicated to furthering the cause of the homosexual agenda, even if it means that our soldiers in harm's way are hurt by his efforts. Can you say despicable?

Have you heard Senator Kennedy's justification for this action on the part of him and his colleagues? The AP article quotes Kennedy as saying the following:

"The defense authorization is about dealing with the challenges of terrorism overseas...

This (bill) is about terrorism in our neighborhood. We want to fight terrorism here at home with all of our weapons."
Call me unaware of my surroundings but I didn't know there was an anti-homosexual terrorist jihad taking place in the United States of America! I would dare to say that none of my readers knew this was taking place either!

Now don't get me wrong here. I am all for protecting homosexuals from being assaulted by those who don't approve of their lifestyles just as I am against anyone else being assaulted for their religious beliefs, skin color, etc., BUT to attach a domestic hate crimes bill - one that many in the religious community, myself included, believe is laying the foundation for the criminalization of scripture condemning the lifestyle - to a bill that deals with the funding of our soldiers who are fighting a very REAL war against very REAL terrorists? That, Senator Kennedy, is close to criminal! Someone needs to pass a bill to protect our men and women in uniform from liberals like you!

Here's what Christian Post reporter Michelle Vu wrote on the topic of this legislation which President Bush is reportedly set to veto:
Many Christian leaders fear that the hate crime bill will inhibit pastors from speaking about homosexuality as a biblical sin and be interpreted in a way that bans even peaceful speech against the lifestyle. As example, leaders have pointed to hate-crime laws in England, Sweden and Canada, where Christians have been prosecuted for breaking these laws.

Furthermore, in the United States, 11 Christians in Pennsylvania were prosecuted under the state’s hate crimes law shortly after “sexual orientation” was added as a victim category several years ago. According to reports, the ten adults and one teenager were singing hymns and carrying signs peacefully at a homosexual celebration in Philadelphia when they were arrested.

“The Hate Crimes Act will be the first step to criminalize our rights as Christians to believe that some behaviors are sinful,” Dr. James C. Dobson, founder and chairman of Focus on the Family Action, said in a message for a petition to oppose the bill.
The prophetic implications of this? As I've stated many times in the past, Bible prophecy tells us that the world is going to be as the world was in the days of Lot near the time of Christ's return. This is documented in Luke 17:28-30. Lot, as I'm sure my readers recall, lived in a very sinful place called Sodom, from which the word sodomy is derived.

Homosexuality was a common lifestyle in Sodom as we see in the book of Genesis, chapter 19. Not only was it common, those practicing it were quite out of hand, as the chapter reveals.

Lot, we're told in 2nd Peter 2:7-8, was vexed with the filthy conversation of those around him. What he saw day in and day out distressed him greatly but, as we see in Genesis 19 as well as in 2nd Peter 2, Lot was divinely delivered from Sodom before judgment fell on that wicked place.

Is America today as morally and sexually corrupt as Sodom was prior to its destruction? I don't know but we're well on our way based on what I'm seeing in the news of our land today, this being a prime example of how askew our priorities are as a nation.

Yesterday, I had an extensive dialogue with an atheist lesbian. Needless to say, I had my hands full dealing with that! What I found most interesting, as I always do in dialogues of that nature, is how hated we (Christians) are by those who practice the homosexual lifestyle. I was as kind as I possibly could be but was called names and spoken of as though I am an absolutely cruel man, merely because I said that I can't defy the teachings of Scripture and approve of the homosexual lifestyle or roll over and play dead where the attempted hijacking of God's institution of marriage is concerned, which is, as every Christian knows, a battle that is being fought all over the nation right now and will continue to be.

Was I grieved, vexed even, by the conversation? Yes. Did it bother me being called a number of unkind names when I in no manner condemned the young lady I was talking to but merely quoted Scripture and explained that my allegiance to God's Word prohibits me from seeing things from her perspective? Yes. It was a tough day at the office so to speak.

What I saw in that conversation is very typical of what I see whenever I interact with militant atheists or homosexual activists. It isn't enough for them to co-exist with us peacefully any more than it is acceptable for the practitioners of radical Islam to live side-by-side with us in peace. All of these groups have something in common. They, being assisted by spiritual wickedness in high places, are bent on bringing to an end the influence of God's Word on ANYTHING. They want Almighty God, Jehovah, whose Son is Jesus Christ our Lord GONE - and they will stop at nothing to achieve that end goal. Why? Because God's commandments don't approve of their lifestyles and beliefs!

Should the Lord delay His coming much longer, I believe the Church is going to have a fight on its hands against 'terrorism at home' as well. If Ted Kennedy is still in Washington when that happens, let's see how quickly he and his cohorts rise up to defend a Christian's right to freedom of religion when he quotes the Word of God in condemnation of ANY sinful lifestyle! My guess is he'll be hard to find if that takes place as he is a supporter of special interest groups, rather than the majority of Americans.

Conclusions

Great evil is afoot, Christians, but I have good news! Because our world today is as it was in both the days of Noah as well as Lot, a better day is coming - and potentially very soon - for those of us who have placed our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!

Earlier in the commentary I highlighted 2nd Peter 2:7-8, demonstrating how absolutely miserable Lot became as a result of watching the world around him filled with wickedness and filthy conversation, some of which I feel certain was directed at him in light of his righteous nature.

In closing I want to remind everyone that Lot was delivered from Sodom before judgment fell on it because of its many sins. This should give us hope that our redemption draweth nigh!

2nd Peter 2:9: The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Keep the faith and keep looking up!
