Believing in a bit of everything
by Michael G. Mickey
(10-30-07)
Have you noticed how much of television today has a supernatural or paranormal element to it these days? There's a reason for that. It sells - and not only near Halloween.
A LiveScience.com article details the following, in part (emphasis added mine):
Just about every city has some supposedly haunted mansion, cemetery or lunatic asylum ("if you listen carefully to the wind on moonless nights, you can hear the screams of the insane…"). Most cities, in fact, have at least one company offering tours of their spookiest places.
Ghost tourism has boomed over the past decade, propelled by the public's interest in the mysterious and supernatural.
Yes, mankind today is very interested in the supernatural. In fact we're willing to believe in a bit of everything as a whole --- other than the Word of God, of course.
As interest in the Bible declines, oddly in the midst of many signs indicating that the return of Jesus Christ is drawing near, people today are far more interested in what Nostradamus wrote, who has failed the biblical test of how one is confirmed to be a prophet numerous times, and what took place in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947!
Recently I read that Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson, if elected president, will work with the public in attempting to uncover what actually took place at Roswell. The following is an excerpt from a Houston Chronicle article on that subject:
If he wins his bid for the White House, Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson may be just the man to get to the bottom of the 60-year-old Roswell UFO mystery.
Answering questions at a townhall meeting Friday, a Dell employee asked Richardson about the 1947 incident in which many people still believe a flying saucer landed near the eastern New Mexico town.
"I've been in government a long time, I've been in the Cabinet, I've been in the Congress and I've always felt that the government doesn't tell the truth as much as it should on a lot of issues," said Richardson, who is governor of New Mexico.
"When I was in Congress I said (to the) Department of Defense ... 'What is the data? What is the data you have?' "
He was told that the records were classified.
"That ticked me off," he said, as the crowd laughed.
"What do you want me to do? You want me to open up all those files?" he asked the alien enthusiast, who said he did.
"I'll work with you on that."
On a serious note, it is interesting that to this very day even members of Congress aren't allowed to know what actually took place in the desert near Roswell, New Mexico. Perhaps that's why interest in that particular topic remains piqued.
As for me, I wouldn't bet for or against something publicly shedding a brand new light on the Roswell incident in the prophetic future, perhaps very soon after the Rapture of the Church takes place. After all, we know that the Antichrist, "whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish" is going to come forward at that point in human history, after which a strong delusion is going fall upon all mankind that took pleasure in their unrighteousness and "received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved." The bottom line? Many who are left behind after the Rapture occurs are going to believe a great big satanically-inspired lie! (See 2nd Thessalonians 2:8-12)
I've often said, of the strong delusion alluded to in 2nd Thessalonians 2:11, that I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it manifests itself in the form of a flying saucer or a reasonable facsimile of same. I'm not saying that's what I 100% believe is going to occur. What I'm certain of is a lot of demonic effort has gone into keeping UFO phenomena keenly in the public interest, especially since 1947. Perhaps its purpose in Satan's plans serves no greater role than what we've seen thus far. Then again? Maybe there's more to come, as a recent London Telegraph story may indicate.
The following is an excerpt from that story:
Aliens were responsible for a series of unexplained fires in fridges, TV’s and mobile phones in an Italian village, according to an Italian government report.
Canneto di Caronia, in northern Sicily, drew attention three years ago after residents reported everyday household objects bursting into flames.
TV news footage at the time showed electrical appliances as well as cookers, a pile of wedding presents and furniture smouldering.
Dozens of experts including scientists, electrical engineers and military boffins, arrived in the village 60 miles east of Palermo to investigate the phenomenon.
Arson was quickly ruled out and at one stage an amazed scientist was interviewed after he described how he saw an unplugged electrical cable burst into flames.
Locals were quick to blame supernatural forces and at the time the Vatican’s chief exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth backed up their fears and said: "I’ve seen things like this before. Demons occupy a house and appear in electrical goods. Let’s not forget that Satan and his followers have immense powers."
Although there is little to nothing I agree with the Vatican on, I think Father Gabriele Amorth hit the nail right on the head when he indicated that Satan and his followers have immense powers.
As we see throughout the Bible, demons are masterful in deceiving and tormenting flesh and bone, but household appliances????
Here's where the story gets interesting and, in my opinion, reinforces what I've always said about UFO phenomena which is I wholly believe the two are intertwined. If you've never considered the possibility before, just watch where the Telegraph's story goes several paragraphs later!
According to the report the fires were "caused by a high power electro magnetic emissions which were not man made and reached a power of between 12 and 15 gigawatts."
The report also detailed a possible UFO landing close to the village, citing "burnt imprints which have not been explained were found in a field."
In this case we see that an official Italian government report blames high-powered electromagnetic emissions caused by aliens for setting a number of items on fire and goes so far as to indicate that a potential UFO landing site was located, leaving one with little alternative other than to suspect that a flying saucer landed and was directly involved in causing all the problems detailed in the report!
Is there any question that we are living in the prophesied last days, people? These days mankind is believing in a bit of everything --- other than the Word of God. Therein lies the problem for those who will be left behind, potentially very soon.
Those currently rejecting the love of the truth that they might be saved are going to be desperately looking for answers in the aftermath of the Rapture of the Church! Why? Because what is today mockfully deemed to be impossible by the wicked, namely the Rapture of the Church itself, will have come to pass! Should a flying saucer go spinning by in a world filled with people looking for secular explanations for biblical things, a lot of unrepentant souls who have been prepped to believe in a bit of everything will believe in whatever they see with their two eyes, none of which will be of benefit to them - or their eternal souls.
May the Holy Spirit speak to the hearts of those who are receptive to the gospel of Jesus Christ today as no one, aside from our heavenly Father, knows how much time is left for those in need of salvation to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior this side of the Rapture.
On the other side of the Rapture, life will be like Halloween in an odd sort of way yet different. After the Rapture, life will be all TRICK and no treat.
