In yesterday's commentary, I wrote about mankind's interest in the paranormal, supernatural, the unexplained, UFO phenomena and the like. In a reply, one of my readers wrote and asked, "Alright Mr. Mike- UFO's? Come on! Seriously? Ok... I want to know what you believe about "UFO's.""

Because it is Halloween and all, I'm going to answer that reader's question to the best of my ability and, hopefully, give us all pause as to what is really behind all the reports of UFOs and alien abductions we've heard about most of our lives. Let's begin with some Scripture:

Ephesians 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

David Guzik, director of Calvary Chapel Bible College in Germany, is one of my favorite biblical analysts. His commentaries on virtually every chapter of the Bible can be found on Blue Letter Bible.

On the topic of Ephesians 6:12, Guzik writes (emphasis added mine):

Ephesians 6:11 tells us that all of our warfare is combating the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). At the end of the day it is completely irrelevant if the particular opponent we face is a principality, a power, or a ruler of the darkness of this age. Collectively, they are all members of spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. They are all part of a spiritual army that is organized and established into ranks - and under the headship of Satan, the devil, who comes against us with his wiles.

In Ephesians 2:2, Satan is referred to as "the prince of the power of the air." On the topic of this unique title given to the lord of darkness, Guzik writes that it speaks of his authority (prince) and his realm (the air).

And then there's the scene in Job where Satan and his fallen boldly appear before the throne of God whereafter the following scene unfolds:

Job 1:6-7:

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

In Hebrews 1:14, we are told that angels are "ministering spirits."

When we consider the fact that demons are, in fact, angels who joined Satan in rebellion against God's throne and joined him in his subsequent fall, it's easy for us to see that these fallen ones are yet doing what they were created to do; they're ministering!

Bearing this in mind, when we look at Job 1:6-7, we find that Satan, in spite of the fact he has lost his place of honor with God due to his foolish pride and arrogance, is yet bold enough to announce before the Throne that he and his fallen are zipping here and there, marching all over God's creation in satanic ministry against the Most High!

So, in conclusion, we know that Satan and his minions are ministering spirits against God. We know that Satan's realm is in the air and that he sits in authority as though a prince because men are serving his every purpose all over planet earth in droves, whether they are willingly doing so or acting on his behalf as a result of having allowed themselves to become deceived, most often as a result of their desire to pursue lusts of the flesh that blind them spiritually. We also know that the spiritual wickedness that battles against all Christians (and even mankind at large) has as its abode "high places."

When we examine the word high as used in Ephesians 6:12, we see yet another reason for us to consider UFO phenomena as purely demonic. The word high is epouranios (ep-ü-rä'-nē-os) in the original Greek, meaning:

• existing in heaven
  
  a) things that take place in heaven
  
  b) the heavenly regions
  
  b.1) heaven itself, the abode of God and angels
  
  b.2) the lower heavens, of the stars
  
  b.3) the heavens, of the clouds
  
  c) the heavenly temple or sanctuary

of heavenly origin or nature

So, what do I believe about UFOs? I think they presently serve a great purpose in Satan's ministry against God as they give those looking for a form of salvation, higher technology that could make us immortal for example, a hope that it might arrive here on a spaceship via little green men from Mars who will bestow upon them wisdom so great there will be no barriers to what mankind can achieve with absolutely no strings attached. Eat, drink, be merry, live forever, travel through time, etc. Warp speed, Mr. Sulu!

What do I think UFO phenomena could (KEYWORD: COULD) develop into in the prophetic future? The sky's the limit! No pun intended.

Watch out for ghouls, goblins, demons, space aliens, illegal immigrants, liberal and godless politicians, terrorists, thieves, backbiters, slanderers, criminal sorts and every imaginable evil this Halloween day and every other day as the devil and his minions are going to and fro in the earth, operating from their realm in the heavenlies, knowing that their time is short! Not only that, keep an ear tuned. Who knows? Maybe, if we're blessed, we'll be hearing "Come up hither!" before we hear the first doorbell ring after sundown.
