Ahmadinejad's Promise

by Michael G. Mickey
(11-20-07)

Ynetnews.com is reporting that Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is promising not to use oil as a weapon if attacked by the United States, quoting him as recently saying, "We would never like to use oil as a weapon; there are other means at our disposal to respond."

This Ahmadinejad had to say immediately after a meeting of OPEC. Keep that in mind as his statement is going to take on a new light for you in a few minutes if you're someone who hasn't followed recent events involving the Iranian and Venezuelan presidents, both of whom are trying to harm the United States and, unwittingly, helping the revived Roman empire of Bible prophecy achieve its subtle goal of surpassing the United States as a global superpower.

Promises, promises!

Yes, there are already "other means" at the Iranian leader's disposal to create hardship for the United States but Ahmadinejad isn't being completely honest when he implies Iran won't use oil as a weapon against the U.S. That would be because Iran and friends are using oil as a weapon against the U.S. and its efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon right now!

What puts Ahmadinejad's promise not to use oil as a weapon of war against the United States in its proper perspective is found in a Yahoo Financial News article.

Ahmadinejad, right after the aforementioned OPEC meeting, is quoted in the article as indicating that "OPEC's members have expressed interest in converting their cash reserves into a currency other than the depreciating U.S. dollar, which he called a "worthless piece of paper.""

And what currency might OPEC's members be considering as an alternative to the "worthless piece of paper" commonly referred to as the dollar? The euro, of course.

A worthless piece of paper

There are any number of ways to fight a war and not all of them involve weaponry. Although no bombs are exploding over Washington or Tehran, a very real war is underway and, whether they call themselves friends of the United States or not, most of the OPEC member nations, with Iran and Venezuela leading the way, are helping Ahmadinejad and his evil twin Hugo Chavez to destabilize the U.S. economy in a very subtle yet war-like manner.

Just look at how much pressure the Ahmadinejad and Chavez-influenced OPEC has placed on the United States in the last week, dramatically demonstrating how the U.S. has waited WAY too long to lower its dependence on foreign oil!

Because the United States needs OPEC's oil to fuel its powerful economy, OPEC is able to bring great harm to the U.S. as a nation. Already, as a direct result of OPEC's mere mention of converting its oil trade to the euro combined with no effort on its part to increase petroleum production to meet global demands, oil prices are rising once again as we see in a BBC News article.

Are Iran and Venezuela truly acting hostilely?

Perhaps I'm reading more into these developments than warranted. Then again, maybe I'm not. I'm sure everyone will have fun discussing this topic on the blog.

I think I've already made it pretty clear what struck me as odd concerning Ahmadinejad's promise that oil wouldn't be used as a weapon by Iran but let me be more blunt.

My initial suspicion, after looking at the big picture of all this, was that Ahmadinejad may have said Iran would never use oil as a weapon against the U.S. in a war footing because he knew the liberal media would jump on that angle like a dog on a bone, creating a smoke screen of sorts to hide Iranian involvement in nudging OPEC toward trading with the euro - a move he knew would harm the U.S. economy, not to mention apply pressure on the United States to urge Israel to make further concessions to the Arab world in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, advancing yet another goal of Tehran's, namely the destruction of Israel.

Then I saw something that sealed the deal for me pretty much. A Fox News story indicates that, in his opening address of the recent OPEC summit, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warned the United States that "oil prices would further surge if the U.S. contemplates an attack against his country or Iran."

This act on the part of Chavez, from my perspective as a recently-retired police officer, is the equivalent of a death threat being made before an assault occurs.

I suspect that Iran and Venezuela went into this rare event hopeful they would be able to bring harm to the United States, perhaps even to the extent that Chavez believed, right or wrong, that Washington might take a look at sending him a message with a bomb attached to it, reminiscent of how the Reagan administration once managed to get the attention of Libya's Muammar al-Gaddafi.

The bottom line on Ahmadinejad's promise not to use oil as a weapon? I think he got what he wanted from the media. But did Ahmadinejad score any points with those of us who are wise to the wicked nature of his ways? I highly doubt it. In fact I'd go as far as to say his promises aren't worth the breath he exhales to make them to most of us!

The big picture

By now, even before reading this commentary, I think most everyone has realized on some level that powerful actors in the global economy and the global elite are devaluing the U.S. dollar by utilizing the euro as opposed to the dollar when conducting international trade.

While the U.S. economy has been stable enough to take the shots being fired at it, the more investment that takes place utilizing the euro (the currency of the revived Roman empire of Bible prophecy), the less influence the United States has in global affairs.

The more desperate the U.S. gets to remain a factor in global affairs, the more it is going to have choose its fights carefully, one of which involves whether or not the United States is going to apply greater and greater pressure on Israel to appease many of the OPEC member nations' desires to see a Palestinian state set up on Israel's covenant lands.

Isn't it surreal how so many of these things make perfect sense when looked at through the lens that is Bible prophecy?

The end times drama continues...
