An Obama nation?

by Michael G. Mickey
(3-5-08)

As seen in a CNS News story as well as a WorldNetDaily story, Barack Obama, Democratic liberal for president, recently made the following statement concerning his support of the homosexual agenda:

"I don't think it [a same-sex union] should be called marriage, but I think that it is a legal right that they should have that is recognized by the state," said Obama. "If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans."
Where to begin? Most anyplace will do in a pack of spiritual hocus pocus like that but let's begin with that 'obscure' passage in Romans Senator Obama referred to which addresses the sin of homosexuality:
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; (Romans 1:26-28)
I don't know about you but that 'obscure' little passage of Scripture has some sharp teeth from where I'm sitting which leaves me to wonder what, exactly, Senator Obama has read in his Bible's depiction of the Sermon on the Mount that nullifies the doctrinal teachings of the book of Romans.

There are a number of points Senator Obama could've been attempting to make concerning the content of the Sermon on the Mount which he is hopeful will cast enough doubt on his shadowy political positions to earn him a free pass with Christians where his trampling of the Word of God is concerned, such as Matthew 7:1-2 which speaks against judging people and Matthew 7:12 which illustrates the Golden Rule. While I have to give Senator Obama an A+ for trying to pull the wool over the eyes of Christians in a clever manner like that, if he thinks all of us are going to buy his shtick, he is mistaken.

While I could go through Matthew chapters 5-7 at length and highlight any number of points that would slaughter the absurd notion that Senator Obama is somehow reflecting Christian values by supporting the homosexual agenda, I won't. There's no need for that.

What I feel led to address is how Senator Obama bends God's Word to suit his liberal agenda, all the while feigning a righteousness during his campaign rallies that has people fainting in his audiences.

I have a newsflash for Senator Obama. In the Word of God, from Old Testament to New Testament, there are no obscure doctrinal teachings on the topic of sin or any other matter. It is written, in 2nd Timothy 3:16:
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Not only does Senator Obama turn his head away from God's condemnation of the homosexual lifestyle, he also overlooks what I'm sure he considers an "obscure passage" in Proverbs 6:17 that tells us God hates hands that shed innocent blood.

Senator Obama, as we can see in his own words posted in the CNS News story linked above, doesn't think his support of abortion is an affront to his Christian faith whatsoever --- even if God hates it!
"I think that the bottom line is that in the end, I think women, in consultation with their pastors, and their doctors, and their family, are in a better position to make these decisions than some bureaucrat in Washington. That's my view," Obama said about abortion. "Again, I respect people who may disagree, but I certainly don't think it makes me less Christian. Okay."
Since Senator Obama likes the Sermon on the Mount so much, I think I'll touch on a topic covered there in closing this commentary in light of all the above.

Jesus warned those who were listening to Him on the Mount to "beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." (Matthew 7:15)

Barack Obama has made a believer out of many a person who has listened to him speak because of his outstanding oratory skills and charisma. If he's made a believer out of you and you're a born-again Christian? My recommendation to you is the same I'd make to Senator Obama: You need to read your Bible more thoroughly if you believe certain scriptures carry far more weight than others. No passage of Scripture signals that the homosexual lifestyle may be acceptable in God's eyes. Ditto on abortion. Beware of anyone who suggests otherwise, especially when they're a politician looking to earn Christian votes in November.
