The photo above? It was pulled unaltered from the front page of FoxNews.com on this date - the 60th anniversary of the prophetic rebirth of the nation of Israel, an event which had to occur at some point because God's Word said the rebirth of Israel would occur in the latter days - the last days leading up to the return of Jesus Christ!

In Ezekiel 38:16, we're told undeniably that Israel would exist as a nation by the time the dramatic latter days events described in Bible prophecy would occur and here we are! It's Israel's 60th anniversary and we have scores of thousands dead as a direct result of end times signs detailed in Bible prophecy! How appropriate it is, in light of what I'm saying, that we see Fox News chose the title "Hell on Earth" to describe the events we're witnessing today, on May 14, 2008.

Scriptural basis for today's commentary

Luke 21:11: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Mark 13:8: For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

Luke 21:25: And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

The photo captioned "Hell on Earth" is a lead-in to the following news story on FoxNews.com: Nearly 15,000 Dead, 40,000 Buried or Missing After Chinese Quake; Troops Rush to Plug Crack in Dam

Approximately 15,000 have now been confirmed dead in China from a 7.9 earthquake that occurred two days ago, 40,000 other souls are presumably buried or dead and, making matters worse, the Zipingku Dam is apparently in jeopardy of failing as a result of the quake. Many villages near the quake have been completely cut off from outside aid due to landslides. Resources needed to aid the hungry, wounded and thirsty are already in thin supply due to the logistical difficulties of getting them where needed as a result of the havoc created by the event itself. Rescuers who were able to make their way into the areas worst impacted are saying the quake's results are "much worse than expected."

I don't mean to be pessimistic at an already sad time but the Bible says that events like this are but the beginnings of sorrows for those living in the latter days - a time when the nations will be in distress with perplexity!

China, right this very moment, is in distress with perplexity much as the United States was not too long ago in the wake of Hurricane Katrina slamming into New Orleans.

Speaking of the destructive power that descended on New Orleans when the sea and the waves were roaring in the United States not too long ago, Myanmar (Burma), as seen in a Telegraph story, is potentially going to have it even worse than the U.S. did! Why? Because there's a chance that Myanmar, already reeling from the aftermath of a deadly cyclone, is going to be hit by another storm forming in the region which is reportedly moving "towards the same Irrawaddy delta region which was hit by Cyclone Nargis." Can you imagine the horror if this comes to pass?

Cyclone Nargis left millions of people homeless and in danger of starvation and disease in Myanmar. Approximately 100,000 died as a result of the storm so one can only wonder how high the body count will soar if the second storm materializes and strikes the same region. Suffice to say that the death toll will be staggering as the government there isn't being very receptive to international aid coming in, leaving the Burmese people with very little to look forward to, even if God extends His hand of mercy and quiets the second storm, either weakening it or preventing it from striking altogether.

Bible Prophecy: Mocked by many but coming to pass nonetheless.

Just yesterday I watched an old Johnny Cash video wherein he sings about how the times we're living in are going by the book! So true, people! So very true!

Conclusion

There is no doubt that the Holy Bible is God's Word! As prophesied, the nation of Israel has been reborn and, among many prophetic signs pointing toward the soon-coming return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, scores of thousands of people whose bodies haven't even been gathered for burial yet are lying dead in China and Myanmar as a result of events prophesied to occur in the latter days!

How much longer will it be until we see Jesus Christ face-to-face? It's hard to say but, as the ever-growing database of evidence that is RaptureAlert.com continues to connect the dots between the news of our world today and prophecies of old, there are days when I simply can't imagine that Christ's return is anything other than at the very door! That's why I'm doing everything I can to sound the alert that Jesus Christ is coming soon to a lost and dying world before He comes for His Church and the caption on that photo above becomes what life on this planet will be every day until the Second Coming, namely Hell on Earth.
