Columnist Thomas H. Thompson noted the following recently:

The Doomsday Clock of the atomic scientists stands at 5 minutes to midnight --- that is, the catastrophic destruction of world humanity.

After a brief explanation of why we stand at this juncture in human history, Thompson writes the following (emphasis added mine):

The doomsday scenarios have one big thing in common --- they're all global. They will not yield to national solutions, since nations are in competition with one another, not in cooperation, save for temporary alliances. Presidential politicians love their country. Their horizon of concern is the next election.

But world humanity is at terrible risk. Our civilization could disappear by accident or design in a nuclear or biological holocaust. Must we simply accept global anarchy and hope for the unlikely best?

No. I have the answer. We need a wise and benevolent absolute despot who rules over the nations in order to tame catastrophic threats and create citizens, not of nations, but of the world.

But I have no idea how to manage the transition. And I am all too aware of Lord Acton's warning that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Moreover, I'm a Democrat and a patriot. I'm part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Isn't it amazing that, through the words of Thompson, we see the future being hoped for as Bible prophecy details it is going to come to pass?

Many today are hoping for a global leader to emerge who will rule over all nations and create a global citizenry if you will. What these people are seeking or, more properly, who these individuals are looking for is the prophesied Antichrist. As I'm striving to document here to the best of my ability, I believe those of Thompson's mindset may be far closer to finding him than most realize!

Who is this Antichrist?

The prophesied Antichrist will be a man who will, initially at least, appear to have everyone's best interests at heart. He will creep into power as a peacemaker through which he will, ultimately, destroy many as recorded in Daniel 8:25.

One of the earliest clues to the identity of Antichrist will be his association with a seven-year covenant which he will confirm (or make strong) "with many."(Daniel 9:27) The advent of the Antichrist will result in cries of "peace and safety" being proclaimed immediately prior to the onset of the seven-year Tribulation Period. (1st Thessalonians 5:3)

The Antichrist, the most evil leader the world will ever know, will seem to have all the answers to the world's problems at first. He will swiftly become a hero in the eyes of many. The world will admire and even worship him as we see in Revelation 13:8-9:

8. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

9.If any man have an ear, let him hear.

As Thompson notes, once again almost prophetically, near the end of his commentary, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Such will be the case where the Antichrist and the prophetic future is concerned.

Upon convincing the world he's a peacemaker and, subsequently, securing complete power over the world, the Antichrist will set out to destroy all who oppose him, especially those who call themselves Christians.

Revelation 13: 7: And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Much as Thompson writes he hopes a future leader will to prevent mankind from an apocalyptic scenario, the Antichrist is going to "create citizens, not of nations, but of the world" - HIS world!

Not only will people worship the Antichrist with their lips, he is going to install a system of government that will require all mankind to receive a mark of allegiance to him and his new world order.

One who accepts his mark will demonstrate themself to be a supporter of his global power base. Refuse his mark, on the other hand, and you'll find yourself branded a criminal. To make matters worse, you'll have no ability to buy or sell whatsoever.

Revelation 13:16-17:

16. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17. And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

What well-intending men like Thomas H. Thompson fail to recognize is mankind's corruptibility renders us incapable of creating a utopian society in this world. Truly, absolute power corrupts absolutely where human nature is concerned. This will prove to be especially true of the Antichrist to come.

More and more people these days are looking for a savior to prevent mankind from destroying itself. The funny thing is that fewer and fewer people are looking to the one person capable of doing just that - Jesus Christ, the prince of peace.

Thomas H. Thompson is but one of many who long to see a globalist knight in shining armor emerge to save us from ourselves. The citizens of an ever more godless world are signaling their readiness to send in the Antichrist to solve all mankind's problems.

All that is needed at this point for the advent of the Antichrist to occur, in my humble opinion, is an opportunity to arise that will permit a man of his ambition and ego to rise to absolute power through peace, an opportunity which many are saying presently exists in the Middle East where everyone believes the 'end of the world' is going to take place.

Isn't it funny that the one person mankind is going to place its collective faith in to 'save the world' is going to be the exact person who leads the world and its armies to Armageddon and, as a result, into a direct confrontation with Jesus Christ and the armies of heaven as recorded in Revelation 19, an event which is going to be the 'end of the world' as we presently know it?

In closing, a clue to the identity of the Antichrist is found in Revelation 13:18:

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six.

Six hundred sixty-six or 666.

While I don't know how the Antichrist will be connected to the number 666, those who will be here to see him assume his throne of global conquest will be able to piece it together.

As for me and my brothers and sisters in Christ, we'll be otherwise occupied at the time when all of this will come to light in its fullness but, hopefully, words we have recorded, both in books and on the worldwide web, will assist those here to witness the events described here figure out what's going on and make proper decisions in that terrible time to come.

Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!
