Patrick Henry once said “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was not founded by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason people of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity and freedom to worship here.”
At this very hour, as I have reported both here and in YouTube videos, the very name that has brought safety to this nation since it was founded is under attack once again - the name of
Jesus Christ.
As a result of a directive issued by Virginia State Police Colonel Steve Flaherty, which Democratic Governor Tim Kaine (who campaigned as a
Christian) has refused to bring to an end, Virginia State Police chaplains can no longer pray in the name of Jesus in a public venue.
To deny Virginia State Police chaplains to pray in the name of Jesus is counter to their religious convictions, not to mention appalling. It isn't a separation of
church and state; it's a separation of
Jesus and state - a violation of these chaplains' first amendment rights!
The Virginia State Police are not capable of legislating or making official for all individuals in the Commonwealth of Virginia to follow or participate in any religion against their will so there is no cause whatsoever for this action to have been taken.
At a time when men of honor and courage like the Virginia State Police (and law enforcement officers all over this nation) need to be prepared to defend the public in an increasingly dangerous world, their leaders are pushing them away from their faith to
possibly prevent offending someone who doesn't pray in Jesus' name.
Never mind all the Christians this policy offends!
So, what can RaptureAlert.com's readers do to help the Virginia State Police chaplains, many of whom have resigned as opposed to submitting to this discriminatory policy that prevents them from acknowleding their Savior in public? A website has been created,
InJesusNameIPray.org. Readers of my site can fill out a simple form there to indicate we are standing with the chaplains and Delegate Bill Carrico in attempting to bring this policy to an end.
If you would rather not fill out the online form, Delegate Carrico, whose office is located in the city I grew up in as a child - Galax, Virginia - can be reached by calling (276) 236-0098 or writing to the address below:
Delegate Bill Carrico
221 S. Main St., Suite 200, P.O. Box 1100
Galax, Virginia 24333
Even though most of my readers don't live in Virginia, our brothers and sisters in Christ in the Virginia State Police, many of whom are friends of mine from my days in law enforcement, need some
back-up in this spiritual battle.
In Jesus' name I pray that Delegate Carrico will hear from the readers of this site, know that we are lifting him, the chaplains and all the Troopers in Virginia up in prayer, and commend as most honorable the chaplains who walked away from their positions in lieu of surrendering their first amendment rights in the interest of political correctness. We need to pray that, if this matter is resolved, all of the chaplains who resigned will be afforded the opportunity to return to their positions as well.
Stand strong, Christians! Whether we win our battles or lose, going "on the record" for Christ is always a good thing as the reward for our faithfulness in addressing matters like this is coming, potentially very soon!
Let your light shine -
right in the devil's eye!
