Europe has waited since 1992 to agree on a stronger federal identity – a president and a more efficient means to exercise its clout overseas.
Now that Czech President Vaclav Klaus, the final holdout, signed a unity treaty Tuesday, a new European Union may formally be in place by Dec. 1.
The EU is not waiting around for its next move. In less than two weeks – Nov. 12 or 15, depending on scheduling – the Council of Europe is expected to decide on its first president, a "George Washington of Europe," and on a high representative for foreign affairs.
Those who desire a more united and potent Europe on the world stage see these two offices representing over time a stronger corporate face with power states like the US, China, and Russia in ways that current EU leaders can't achieve.
"Phone lines between chancelleries in Europe are pretty hot right now, everyone is looking for the right candidate," says Pascale Joannin, general manager of the Robert Schuman foundation in Paris. "We've never had a president of Europe before, and we need to find the right name for the person in charge of Europe."
Truly, we are entering a new phase in the unfolding story of the revived Roman empire of bible prophecy, one that could literally give rise to the prophesied Antichrist himself, but I wonder. Is the advent of Antichrist necessarily what we're going to see take place as result of what is about to transpire? Only the Lord knows for sure. Thus, we need to exercise restraint in the weeks ahead that we might avoid the pitfall of labeling someone as the son of perdition prematurely which could both create an atmosphere of fright and, potentially, tag a decent soul as the sure fire candidate on his way to becoming the ultimate evil humanity will ever see.
As Christians, we would never want anyone to finger us as the Antichrist in the making and I suspect that most anyone, particularly if they are a decent human being, would be hurt to see it suspected of them simply because they are to become the first EU president. I genuinely hope everyone will keep that in mind.
Having said that, I have to confess that it's difficult for me, as a watchman, to not get caught up in the hype of what is about to take place. Seeing it written on paper that the revived Roman empire is looking for "the right candidate" to be "the person in charge of Europe", a "George Washington of Europe" no less, it's all I can do to restrain myself from wild speculation. Add to all of that the additional information we see in the excerpt above indicating that what is about to occur is going to be a major game changer for the EU, one that could bring it to a whole new level of global respectability, and it stirs the imagination to almost uncontrollable levels of curiosity, at least for me.
It's near impossible to think something big isn't on the horizon
The iconography of someone becoming the "George Washington of Europe" seems to be a custom made opportunity to set the stage for the advent of the prophesied Antichrist to occur at some point, potentially in the very near future. This is especially true at this point in human history when so many prophetic signs are present in the world around us that seem to be pointing toward the soon-coming return of Jesus Christ.
Time and circumstances will dictate how meaningful what we're about to see occur will be in relation to bible prophecy but one thing is certain: To have a global dictator in power as described in Revelation 13, one man is going to have to hold sway over numerous nations and
that time is here. Literally.
While the first president of the European Union may or may not prove to be the Antichrist in the prophetic future, the mere creation of a multi-national president is an important preliminary step toward the fulfillment of bible prophecy concerning the Antichrist's global dictatorship to come.
In the days ahead, names are going to begin being dropped to become the "George Washington of Europe". It is going to prove very intriguing to watch, I suspect, and I look forward to providing my readers with as much reasonable information on developments as possible, both in commentary and in news items of interest I'll be posting.
Will the first EU president and first EU foreign minister be names almost everyone in the western world will recognize or could we see some relatively new faces rise to prominence? I don't know about any of you but I'm going to be on the edge of my seat. While I won't be pinning the tail on the Antichrist based on the outcome of the decisive events that lie ahead, I will be watching the two new EU positions very carefully, particularly if one or both of them begin displaying a profound eagerness to resolve the issue of Middle East peace.
Keep looking up, Christians! It looks like business of the end times variety is about to pick up and markedly so.
