Question: Did September 11th, 2001 have any prophetic significance?

This is a question I've heard posed a number of times and it's a good one. Although I can find no reference to the tragedy of September 11th in the Bible, I am of the belief time will reveal it has played a significant role in the fulfillment of end time prophecies contained in the Bible.

I say that because September 11th, 2001 transformed a generation of people, not only in the United States, but all over the world.

Who can forget the images of that horrible day? No one I dare say! Ask most anyone where they were when the reality of what was happening struck them and most can tell you where they were, who they were with, and how they felt.

Around the world, the evil of terrorism became more real in the aftermath of the twin towers' collapse. No one felt truly safe in the months after the attacks.

The world became almost instantly aware that radical elements of the Islamic faith were not only willing to conduct small, harassing attacks, but were completely willing to murder thousands of innocent people.

That realization gave rise to some frightening questions: What if Islamic radicals obtained a nuclear weapon? Or two? Would they be any less willing to kill a million people in the name of their faith?

It is within the fear that gripped the planet in the months after September 11th that Satan began working his evil spell on the world.

The United States and many of its allies entered a just cause, declared war on terrorism and told the world, "You're either with us or you're against us." Around the world, the bloodshed has continued ever since.

The war on terrorism has been fought in places we'll never hear of, in Afghanistan, the Philippines, Iraq, the United States, Europe, and almost daily in Israel with no end in sight. Why is this happening?

By satanic design, the fear the citizens of the world are feeling are being mirrored by their governments. This is where Satan is successfully gaining a significant foothold toward achieving many of his goals.

Many of the governments of the world, in an attempt to maintain an illusion of peace and security in their countries, have become pacifistic in nature, hoping they can somehow appease the terrorists. They won't succeed.

The terrorism is going to continue, I believe, until the tribulation period starts because Jesus said the last days would be like the days of Noah.

Matthew 24:37-39: But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

What were the days of Noah like?

Genesis 6:5: And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

What is more evil than terrorism? We've seen, almost daily on the news, numerous images from Israel of carnage and death caused by terrorists who have chosen to blow themselves up in markets, in schools, in residential areas, and on buses, killing hundreds of innocent people.

As the Arab/Palestinian/Israeli conflict is at the core of most radical Islamic hatred of the western world, the world's governments, desperate to prevent another September 11th from happening, are applying pressure on Israel to surrender part of her land to the Palestinians in the name of peace, in spite of God's covenant with the Jews. What a huge mistake!

Soon, someone is going to emerge from the European Union to confirm a peace plan with many between Israel and her enemies. The plan will be seven years in length (Daniel 9:27).

The governments of the world will likely breathe a collective sigh of relief thinking radical Islamic terrorism has been ended, but the peace won't last long.

1st Thessalonians 5:3: For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

The man who will arrive to confirm this peace will be the Antichrist, the prince that shall come (Daniel 9:26). The seven years of his plan will run concurrently with the seven year tribulation period, ultimately culminating in the return of Jesus Christ to defeat the armies of earth at the Battle of Armageddon.

That day is closer than it's ever been before and it seems accurate to say the world started heading down the path toward the fulfillment of these prophecies on September 11th, 2001 when the twin towers fell!

Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!
