Satanic
Attack

Do you ever find yourself having
a wonderful day when something suddenly comes from out of nowhere to ruin
it? Have you ever been betrayed by someone close to you? Have you ever been
tempted to do something you knew you shouldn't? Have you ever been made angry
by someone for no good reason? Have you ever had your faith in Christ mocked?
Have you ever been victimized, either mentally or physically, by someone?
Have you ever reasoned that it would be okay to disobey God just once then
proceeded to do something you knew you shouldn't with disastrous consequences
coming to you as a result?
If you answered yes to any of
the questions above, you have been the victim of a Satanic attack!
Ephesians 6:10-12: Finally, my
brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the
whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the
devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in high places.
What are Satan's goals when
he attacks us?
When Satan attacks us, he has
several goals in mind. They are to:
- Draw us away from God.
- Thwart Gods purpose in our lives.
- Deny God the glory and honor He deserves.
- Destroy us.
Satan's strategies for attack are:
-
To direct our attention to needs or desires - Whenever Satan gets us in a mindset that God is unaware of our needs or
He is failing to provide properly for us, the devil has an open door to
place doubts in our heart as to whether our Father truly loves us. He does
this to draw us away from God.
-
To choose his time for attack and hit
us when we're most vulnerable - The reason I used the example of having a perfect day as an introduction
to this topic was to illustrate the perfect timing of Satan. He knows exactly
when to strike and does so with tremendous precision. You'll do well to
remember Satanic attacks come most often when you least expect them!
-
To create doubt in our minds - Satan loves to create doubt in our minds because it denies God the glory
and honor He deserves. If Satan can get you to doubt your salvation or lead
you to believe God is less concerned about you than He is someone else,
or make you feel as though God could care less about the prayers you're
praying, he has achieved his goal. Whenever doubt starts to creep in, realize
Satan is working within you trying to destroy your faith and thwart God's
purpose in your life. Trust your heavenly Father in all things and you will
win this fight!
-
To lure us into a debate - We've all had this one happen! Think for a moment about how many times
you've been tempted to do something you knew you shouldn't then started
a dialogue with Satan as to whether or not you should do it, in spite of
the fact you already knew you shouldn't do it! Luring us into a debate is
one of Satan's oldest and most effective tactics. It was, in fact, through
a debate that Satan originally brought sin to mankind. As such, it's his
oldest trick in the book! Concerning the eating of the forbidden fruit,
Satan lured Eve into a debate in the Garden of Eden. Appearing before her
in the form of a serpent, he got Eve involved in a dialogue with him then
used reason and logic in combination with deception to get her to eat the
forbidden fruit. What you need to learn from Eve's mistake is whenever you
start debating Satan on any issue, whether it is an issue of faith or obedience
to God, you will lose every time! Trust me when I tell you he knows you
like a book and knows precisely what to whisper to you that will achieve
his goals.
-
To deceive us - Satan is a master of deception and he delights in using it to confuse
us and trip us up in our faith.
-
To create division - Another greatly overlooked strategy Satan uses with great success is creating
division. Whether it's a family relationship, a co-worker, a fellow member
of the church you attend, or a neighbor, Satan is always looking to cause
division. Ask yourself how many times in the last week you have found yourself
in conflict with someone, angered by something someone said or did. Consider
how many times in the last week you've been provoked by someone for no good
reason. When you consider this, you don't necessarily need to look for big
conflicts, just conflicts of any kind. Start watching for this in your daily
life and you will see it! Satan will make you argue with someone you love,
tear apart a friendship you have, or separate you from a Christian brother
or sister over some petty difference of opinion. His goal is to steal your
joy and replace it with anger.
-
To destroy us - Satan wants to see you harmed mentally, spiritually, and physically. If
possible, he wants to destroy you completely! Among the many tools he uses
are the following: lust, sexually-transmitted disease, alcohol addiction,
drug abuse, and violence. Satan will never be satisfied with a limited victory
against you. He will never give up in his attempts to destroy you unless
he has you right where he wants you. Satan wants you to be deceived, angry,
heartbroken, downtrodden, frustrated and confused. Worst of all, if you're
not a Christian, he hopes to keep you unsaved having never received the
Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and Master.
How to survive a Satanic attack
-
Identify the enemy - Ephesians 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this
world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
-
Stand firm by dressing in the armour of
God - Ephesians 6:11: Put on the
whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the
devil.
The armour of God defined
Ephesians 6:14-17: Stand therefore,
having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking
the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts
of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God:
